Founders

Shivali Tewari, Co-Founder

Shivali is a junior at Monta Vista High School and aspires to work in the medical field. Her gratitude for healthcare workers, who risk their lives fighting this pandemic everyday, and empathy for the homeless community, who are at a high risk for contracting COVID-19, inspired her to co-found TheMaskTask. As an advocate for sustainability, Shivali is very excited with the fact that TheMaskTask uses recycled cotton fabric for all their masks! Shivali is currently involved with Red Cross, in which she serves as Secretary for the Monta Vista club, and the Clinical Summer Internship from Stanford Medicine. She believes TheMaskTask will help her community fight COVID-19 and she is so proud of what this organization has accomplished!

Sophia Bokovikova, Co-Founder

Sophia is also a junior at Monta Vista High School. Her interest in sewing came about in her work within theatre, and she wanted to use her skills in order to benefit the community amidst such difficult times. Sophia values sustainability and emphasizes for TheMaskTask to utilize recycled and reused cotton fabric. Sophia is involved with the American Red Cross in the Health&Safety and Disaster-Youth Committees, and serves as Monta Vista's Treasurer. In addition to this, she has taken an active leadership role in MV's Ohana Club as Activities Coordinator, Director of Curriculum at SpeCreate, and is a Rising Above Disabilities (RAD) volunteer. Sophia is excited to continue working with TheMaskTask's amazing ambassadors and is proud of how far this organization have come!

Trisha Sathish

Trisha Sathish is a rising junior at Monta Vista High School and enjoys anything and everything related to art and baking. In her free time, Trisha likes to read, dance, and bake new desserts!


Lia Vorthmann

Lia Vorthmann is a rising junior at Monta Vista High School. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing sports, and listening to music. Lia joined TheMaskTask because she enjoys to sew and really liked the idea of helping people during her free time in quarantine.

Krupa Shanware

Krupa Shanware is a rising sophmore at Monta Vista. She loves making masks because it’s relaxing and a great way to help people in need! Before quarantine, she loved playing volleyball and hanging out with her friends. She also enjoys painting!


Annika Polavarapu

Annika Polavarapu is a rising sophomore at Monta Vista. She enjoys playing basketball during her free time as well as instruments such as piano and guitar. Annika decided to join TheMaskTask team because she wants to help the community and enjoys to sew.

Lauren Ruckstuhl

Lauren Ruckstuhl is a rising junior at Monta Vista High School. In her free time she loves to work as a lifeguard and referee, surf, and hang out with her friends! Lauren joined TheMaskTask ambassador team because she felt that it was time for her to give back to her community. She recommends everyone to join TheMaskTask if they are interested in helping out!

Peg Albrets

Peg Alberts is a retired Stanford nurse and has lived in Cupertino for many years. She is a mother to two grown children and is expecting her first grandchild soon! Normally, Peg loves to travel and visit her kids. She wanted to help out during these times and was drawn to TheMaskTask since it was started by teens, and she was very impressed by their passion and creativity.

Amy Do

Amy is a wife, mother, and financial professional, and her family has resided in Cupertino for over 15 years. She is a strong believer in giving back to the community and over the years, Amy has volunteered at running races all over the Bay Area, at her church, and now with TheMaskTask. Through her volunteer work Amy has met lots of new people, who care about improving their surroundings. She enjoys swimming, yoga, and running. She joined TheMaskTask because it provides help for people in need and she was moved by its co-founders.

Rajeshvari M. Thakkar

Rajeshvari is a retired preschool teacher and she is a grandmother to four grandchildren! She enjoys to stitch, draw, read, dance, and to play table tennis and billiards. Rajeshvari and her family were especially impressed that TheMaskTask was started by two teens and they were appreciative of their goal of helping the people who risk their lives for us everyday.






Girija Joshi

Mia Liu

Mia Liu is a rising sophomore at Milpitas High School. She loves all kinds of art and enjoys traveling. In her free time, she practices her skills in drawing, music, and sewing. Mia joined the TheMaskTask team because she wants to help her community during the pandemic with her love for sewing.

Elaine Ho

Elaine enjoys practicing yoga, gardening, cooking, and watching movies in her free time. She wanted to help the community during this difficult time and was inspired to join TheMaskTask.
