Lighthouse serves to nourish the light inside each child, where they feel guided towards a sense of self-worth, purpose and belonging.
We are a group of involved parents who support each other in our homeschool journeys.
Here are the nuts and bolts of The Lighthouse School:
We meet Tuesdays (11:30-2:30) and Thursdays (9:30-12:30). Classes on Thursdays (Core days) are taught by all moms of children in the co-op. Classes on Tuesdays (Elective days) are taught by hired teachers and parents from the co-op who volunteer to teach.
Our Tuesday Elective Day for ages 6-10 will include 3 extracurricular classes and students can pick from a variety of courses including Technology Exploration, Art, Cooking, and other short-term courses such as nature exploration, outdoor survival, PE, pickleball, ukulele, drama/theater, sewing, book club, game club, and many other exciting topics depending on what each volunteer teacher chooses. We've had topics such as sailing, escape rooms, finger knitting, Icelandic children's choir, creative writing, farming, chemical experimenting, typing, coding, cardboard creations, origami, entrepreneurship, and Chinese. We welcome passionate teachers to share their knowledge and provide our children an opportunity to explore their interests.
We also have a Tuesday Elective Day for ages 11-16. See the above menu for our program.
Our Thursday Core Day for all ages covers Social Studies/History, Science, and a small dose of math/language arts to supplement at-home learning.
Classes are currently being taught at a location in Salem, Utah.
Current grades taught are kindergarten-5th; 6th-10th grade, and a preschool for families participating in the older grades.
A non-refundable registration/curriculum fee to reserve a spot along and yearly tuition per child is required. These amounts vary based on the group of courses you participate in. Please visit our course page for more information.
We are an approved 3rd Party Vendor for Harmony and My Tech High.
