For those of you who dont know, the M.C.A.S. test is a large standardized test only for Massachusetts. I extremely disagree with forcing 3rd 4th and 5th grade students to take this test. One reason for my opinion is that kids feel like they have to rush this test because if they don't finish fast enough, they might not be able to go out to recess. If his or her friends finish up fast enough then their friends get to go but you don't. Imagine being friends with kids you enjoy haning out with. Then because of M.C.A.S. you miss recess with them. Latter you hear them talking in the hallway saying " WOW! Reces was so fun! I loved when that crazy thing happened!". How would this make you feel? Another Reason M.C.A.S. should only be for 6th grade and up because of the stress. You hear all about it from older students when they tell you about how terrible it is. Maybe someone informs you the state can see your answer and will use it to know how school is doing. You dont want your school to close. Sometimes you even get homework related to M.C.A.S.! All of this gets you thinking, I will have trouble, I need to do well, and, Sometimes I have trouble with my M.C.A.S. homework. I defenetly won't do well! My final reason for M.C.A.S being only for 6th grade and up is because 3rd and 4th grade have 4 M.C.A.S in a two month span and fifth graders have M.C.A.S 6 times in a 3 month span. This burns you out and might make you feel and act in a bad way. For these reasons forcing 3rd 4th and 5th grade students to take this test is the wrong decision.Â
