Patrick Szyman

JSerra Theatre Director

Patrick Szyman (Mr. Z) is the Theater Teacher/Director at JSerra Catholic High School and a proud JSerra alumnus ('17). During his time as a student, he performed in three plays and three musicals, sang in the choir and toured internationally, studied abroad in Ireland, and competed in multiple sports—all while building lifelong friendships.
After graduating from JSerra, Mr. Z studied theater and student life at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he expanded his experiences through study abroad in Austria, mission trips, and leadership opportunities. He founded the Franciscan Musical Theater Department, directing productions such as Beauty and the Beast, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame—each uniting over 100 students, faculty, and volunteers.
Mr. Szyman brings his passion for theater, faith, and community back to JSerra, where he is committed to building a program rooted in excellence, creativity, and the Catholic imagination, helping students grow as artists, as people, and as disciples.
