The ISLC Robolutionaries
Team #25353
Team #25353
We are FTC Team #25353, the Robolutionaries, the first FTC team from South Gate, LA. We’re a second year team and a student-led 501c(3) nonprofit organization. We believe that everyone, no matter their background, should have the resources to discover, explore, and cultivate their passions in technology. Most of us grew up in a technologically underserved community, so, we are committed to a mission of creating long-term opportunities for students to thoroughly explore the field of robotics and STEM while simultaneously developing valuable professional and technical skills
In accords with our mission, our team is entirely student-led. We have four student leaders who each spearhead different departments. Our team captain oversees, manages, and directs the team as a whole. Our coaches, Ms. Leuterio and Mr. Lau are facilitators in our model who ensure we have the latest information from event organizers and manage logistics. This model works best for us since it builds student leaders and develops a sense of responsibility in our members.
The Robolutionaries isn’t just a team to us. It’s a movement to permanently better our underserved community, the first in the history of South Gate. We want that movement to continue well after we graduate. Each year we organize a massive club rush event to increase FIRST awareness and recruit students who were not already active in the STEM and Robotics community. We started a program which we advertised and developed through events like Club Rush to introduce curious students to the experience of being on an FTC team and use our experience to accelerate their knowledge to that of the rest of the team.
