Let the Count Down Begin!
This time last year, our world as we knew had come to a complete halt. Instead of trips to the beach, splashing in the pool or running through sprinklers, our communities (students and their families, school staff, etc.) were sheltered in their homes in hopes of keeping Covid-19 at bay. For one year, we learned how to live in a socially/physically distanced world.
Approximately, thirteen months after the pandemic had closed down our school district, our entire state of California along with other states across the country, our kindergarten through 5th grade students returned to in-person learning via a hybrid model with cohorts A and B taking turns on campus and cohort C tucked away at home. Needless to say, this year has been quite the journey of ups and downs, fear and insecurities, loss and challenges, confusion and despair, hope, acts of kindness and love and through it all...we grew stronger and reunited with a new appreciation for each other. Eight weeks later...more like a blink of an eye...here we are getting ready for our school year to end in four days and for summer break to begin. As of this leads me to the following question:
How do we prepare for a summer break when we just came back together as a community?
It seems so surreal that we will say goodbye once again to each other, but its the cycle that occurs each school year. So, hello summer break!
