Arrow Head Valley- Editor
about our editor; Hello! My stable name is Arrowhead Valley. I have been on HEE for 3 years now, and I still plan on being on this SIM game a while longer. I originally started breeding Thoroughbreds but, I realized that it was not a smart decision to start off with. I later switched to Irish Sport Horses, Sport Horses, and Sport Ponies for a while until I finally decided to settle on Appendix Quarter Horses. I am a senior in high school and I spend most of my time on schoolwork, training my pony and coming on Horse Eden. I really enjoy being able to go out around horses and work with them, and I also enjoy getting to know more people on here! I have some friends that I got to know through this game, and I would love to get to know some more. I am also on the lovely HEE Newspaper team as an editor. I am so excited to be able to help put out a paper for all of the stables to read!Ivy Elites-Editor
about our editor; Hi! My name is Ivy Elites and Ive been playing Horse Eden Eventing for almost three years. I usually spend my time talking with friends, breeding, and stalking everyones barns. Out of HEE I enjoy spending time with my pets and my family! I have four cats and one dog, all of them are happily spoiled rotten! Also! If anyone ever needs help or cant figure how how things work, I am more than happy to try my best in helping/recommend someone who can help!Huge round of applause for these fine folks!
Q: How does line art work?
A: It is kind of complicated. I will be honest by saying it takes a lot of layers and shading.
Q: Is it difficult?
A: It all depends on how detailed the patterning is on the horse, but usually the more difficult it is to do, the more fun it becomes.
Q: On average, how long does it take for you to complete a piece?
A: It is hard to say, sometimes it takes me anywhere from an hour to a few days. It all depends on the difficulty and if I have time to sit down and finish the piece all at once.
Q: What platform do you use?
A: I do all of the art on my phone. I use IbisPaint X, which is an app you can download for free on an IOS platform.
Q: Do you have a favourite line provider?
A: I love Black-Veil-Illusion on DA because many of her pieces have a fantasy theme, but I also have many other favorites.
Q: What’s your favourite part about line art?
A: You do not have to worry about editing the horse. You get to start with your own colors and add patterns as you go. You also do not have to cut out stock to use in your artwork. They come already made and ready to be used.
Q: Any tips for aspiring artists?
A: Use tons of layers! Do not be afraid of them! Also, do not forget to take your time and work on your piece as slow or as fast as you desire!
Q: How do you gain publicity for your art shop?
A: I started with either giving away art, or selling the art very cheap. Then, as I got better, I saw that more people wanted it.
Q: How long have you been doing line art for?
A: It is hard to say, a few years perhaps?
Q: Anything else that you’d like to say?
A: The only thing I have left to say, is that anyone can private message me if they have questions or would like to learn anything else that was not previously stated in the questions above! I am always happy to help and lend a hand to beginner artists!
Q: What is the HEE newspaper?
A: The HEE newspaper is a member founded organization where we bring updates, tips, tricks, and announcements to our community.
Q: Where can we find the HEE newspaper?
A: The newspaper will be on a Google Site, which will be posted in the forums.
Q: What type of things can we see in the HEE newspaper?
A: There are LOADS of things that you can find in the HEE newspaper, such as straw/brood ads (members may send these in for a fee of 10k), featured horses and artists, contests/giveaways, and much more!
Q: Can members send in questions, if so, where? When will the questions be answered?
A: Members can send in questions! We highly encourage you too, as without having questions this section would not be possible! Each question will be answered ASAP! Your questions can be sent in through the forum or by private messaging Hallucination Manor (243688).
Q: Can I apply to be on the staff?
A: At this moment all spots are taken, but as time goes on spots are likely to open up.
I'm Hallucination Manor (also known as Gym), and I run the Q&A portion of the HEE newspaper. I've been playing HEE for over two years real life now! Currently I breed I/SH and am starting on PON. I'm working on getting both color and quality into my lines to potentially bring some new, colorful ABLB boys and girls into the game! I love meeting new people so if you have any questions or just want to talk, my mailbox is always open <3
Welcome to the first column of The Art Corner! Since we are only just beginning, let me start by introducing myself.
I’m Coldwater Meadows and I have been a member of Horse Eden Eventing for nearly 10 years. Soon after joining, I started my journey into digital art with Gimp and a Wacom Tablet. My journey took me through linearts and grayscales to photo manipulation using Photoshop CS6. Through the years, I’ve learned many skills and new techniques to get where I am today. Art not only takes time to create, but also to create yourself as an artist.
In the upcoming columns, I hope to provide some insight into the world of creating art including visualizing your art piece, finding stock photos, tips and tricks using Photoshop CS6, various tutorials and walkthroughs, and, hopefully, share some artist interviews.
Through these columns, I hope you are able to find your inspiration and motivation to continue your own journey through the world of art. Remember to keep your head up and keep practicing. We are our own worst critics.
If you have any special requests you would like to see included in The Art Corner, please contact me through Horse Eden (#28845).
Until next time,
Coldwater Meadows
About the writer;Welcome to the Monthly Stud section of HEE Newspaper. In this part you will discover many gracious and outstanding studs that have the chance to be elected each month to be displayed in our paper!
The Monthly Stud has forums each month for members to elect for their favorite horse for a chance to be chosen. However, there are a few guidelines:
*You can not choose nor vote for your own horse.
*One stud per month per player only.
*Freshmen are tolerated but must be age three, the month of choosing.
*Rating nominee’s must be PPP+.
*Color nominee’s must be 1 of 1, or 1 of 2 or have best brindle/chimera coats.
*Best SD Studs.
*Best Bravery Studs.
Once all contestants are in, I will prepare another forum for votes. I will link the poll forums on the last page of the applicant form so anybody can vote. You can follow both forums so you can check up with how votes are going. The studs will be classified and one stud from each class will receive the monthly title! When voting is over we will have five lucky studs that will be displayed in the paper for: Best Freshman, Best Color, Best Rating, Best Single Discipline and Best Bravery!

THANKS!
Welcome to HEE Tips and Tricks!
As the brand new HEE Newspaper kicks off, I’m going to focus this column on things directed more towards less established stables.
First off - Showing Tips
I’m sure we have all been told that showing is meant to be our main income but, many people still do not show. Now, this isn’t to say that you can not make an income any other way, because there are many successful stables that do not show, but showing is an incredibly useful way to make ebs if you do it correctly. But, that is the problem; “if you do it correctly”. There are many, many people who have no idea how to show the right way. A lot of people give up on trying to show because they keep going in the red (money is lost). I will not touch on everything, but I would like to present some basic showing information to keep you in the money.
Use geldings with P+ ratings.
Personally, I like my geldings to have at least one P or E in their rating (ie ASP, SPSub, EAA, SubEE, etc). Most of the time my geldings are PPP+ because I geld AD horses that are not EEE+, but they do not have to be that high. Geldings that do not have Ps or Es can still do well, and I have had SubSubSub boys do better than the rest, but it takes a lower rated horse longer to be show-ready which makes a horse with a higher rating more efficient.
Wait at least four training weeks before entering shows.
It can be very tempting to jump straight to the “Enter Show” button, but you must be patient. Let your new geldings train for at least four weeks, and longer if the horse’s rating is lower. Showing before your horse has had enough time to train is an automatic money loss.
Use the “easy show” page.
Hand showing horses takes a long time and can be rather difficult. If you go to your barn page and scroll to the bottom, there are different tabs (View/Sort, Move Horses, Set Free, Geld). Under View/Sort, click the dropdown menu next to the bolded word “View” and select “Showing”, then hit submit. The text to the right of your horses’ names should now be changed to showing scores. For horses without shows in their showing history, there will be spaces that say “- -------”. Horses with shows in their showing history will have the placement that they received in that discipline and the date the show ran. For example, my gelding Didy Ren has a slot that says “J1 9/23-1”. This means that he participated in a first level jumping show (J1) on September 23 (9/23) and placed first (-1).
Rely on the “easy show” page’s brown/green system.
When on the easy show page, the text for the showing information will rather be brown or green. If it says “- -------” than it is always brown. This will not change until you show your horse. Once those dashes turn into a showing placement (like the Didy Ren example) then the color of the text is important. Brown text means that the horse is not ready to continue showing in that discipline, meaning you should enter a different discipline or just wait for the horse to train. Green means that they are ready and should be entered in that discipline again. So, if my gelding Killin Kills has brown text for Dressage and Cross Country placings but green for Jumping placings than I should enter him in a show jumping show and let him train up more for the other disciplines.
As a side note, I would like to make sure you know how to enter shows with the “easy show” page. On the far right of the page there are dropdown boxes by the names of each horse. They start out by saying “Skip”. Leaving it on skip means that the horse next to that box will not be entered into a show. If you click the dropdown box, you will have the disciplines to choose from. Go through the list, leaving the horses in the brown on skip and choosing the disciplines with green placings in the dropdown, and when you are finished scroll to the bottom and hit the “Submit” box that is next to the bold words “Enter Selected Shows”.
Make sure your riders match your horses.
Going back to the original barn page (View/Sort>Training), look at the second to last number column to the right. It should say E Lvl above it. The numbers down that column are the levels your horses are at. If the number is brown, your horse is at the same level as their rider. If the number is green, your horse’s rider is training at a higher level than your horse and this gives them an advantage in shows. If the number is red, your horse is training at a higher level than your rider and they are at a disadvantage in shows. You want the level to be brown or green. If the level is red, assign your horse to a new rider. If you are a Premium stable, you can go to the Barn Manager and get her to reassign for you. If you are a Free stable you will have to do it yourself.
This concludes the December edition of the brand new HEE Newspaper. I hope this information can help you. Thanks for reading!
