Our Youth Programs focus on children of color and immigrant families who are navigating the foster care, adoption and kinship systems in RI. These programs aim to respond to barriers faced by children who are in the system by promoting positive child mental health services rooted in culturally relevant services and trauma informed practices. Some of the barriers faced by the children we serve are cultural disconnection, resulting trauma from placement instability, language barriers and limited access to culturally affirming support services. The Youth Programs elevate the importance of self identity, focus on building a sense of belonging and aim to be a place of healing and restoration.
Our Youth Programs have shared outcomes across all programs. These programs provide a space where youth are able to express their emotions freely, build essential relationships with their peers and strengthen their self-identity. The expected outcomes for our programs are tied to improvements in emotional and social expression and skill building.Â
