Each dog has a personality of his own and hence may respond rather differently to training. Luna and Astro are the epitome of such phenomena. Both employed Halo Collar 5 and used the same boundary cue set during the learning phase. Yet they had significantly different responses to training. Luna was happy with keeping her distance, Astro was naturally interested and ready to explore everything around. Their differing personalities had a huge effect on how they approached Halo Collar Training.
Luna can recognize boundary cues in the training session quite easily. She enjoyed being close, and thus she simply knew where she was meant to stay. Luna’s practice was becoming more recognized each time through Audible and Vibration Boundary Cues. With each training session, Luna became more comfortable with the cues and boundaries.
Astro had a different case. Whenever anything interested him it was very normal for the dog to be overcome with curiosity. He would like to be anchored in one place and explore whatever was near him. So, Dog Training took a bit more patience and persistence. Giving Astro extra chances to drill enabled him to understand and attach meaning to the cues.
Both dogs improved during training as they understood the relationship between stimuli and limits . Luna seemed to be learning up on what she was supposed to accomplish quicker, Astro needed more experience to stay focused with distractions. That is rather normal when you are teaching through Virtual Dog Fence teaching as each dog may react differently to the same training approach based on the specific features of the pet.
Both dogs had the same training technique. Regular training sessions helped them to get habituated to the cue and did not put them under any strain to learn all at once. It also let the handler see what was simple and what was tough for them throughout the course of training. For Luna it largely meant reinforcing what she did naturally. For Astro it meant he had time and repetition enough to deal with the distractions.
The Luna and Astro instance illustrates that a dog does not need the standardized training technique. Two dogs can wear the same kind of collar and receive the same stimuli, yet learn at different speeds. Luna's calm disposition helped her adjust to new things quicker, but Astro's exploratory nature needed more time to settle in within the defined limits.
