In the middle of this global pandemic our family has found a way to help those who serve our community by starting the Happy Ears Project. Using our 3D printer(s) we are producing ear saver bands, these small flexible bands go behind the head and hold mask ear straps off ears reducing pain and sores.
Our hope is to provide some relief from wearing a mask all day by donating as many bands as we can produce.
Orders can be picked-up in Loveland Colorado for free OR we are offering shipping, see details below.
If you are having problems with our order form please contact us at: wehyam729@gmail.com
The bands are made to order so there could be a delay between ordering and pick-up or shipment.
We are asking for a fixed $5 fee* to offset shipping costs so we can focus on production.
To have us ship your order:
On the order form, select "Shipping" for the "How do we get the order to you? " question.
Put your address in the comments section.
We'll send you an invoice via the email you provided, payment accepted via Credit Card (other options available upon request)
Once we receive your shipping fee and your order is printed we will ship your ear saver order.
*Orders of 1000 or more may incur a larger shipping fee, we'll reach out to you before we start.
An ear saver band is a small flexible plastic strip with hooks that go behind the head and hold mask ear straps off ears reducing pain and sores
1. Put on your mask as usual. Pull one strap away from your ear and, using your other hand, hook the strap to the ear saver band behind your head. Pull the ear saver around your head, switch hands and pull the other ear strap and connect it to the band.
2. With the mask off of your face, wrap one ear strap around the ear saver band (a twist will help keep it in place). Bring the mask up to your face and, with one hand holding the ear saver band and the other holding the free strap, connect the strap to the band behind your head.
High on your head, low on the neck, secured with bobby pins, or with a pony tail. See photos to the left.
RPN95 Masks have an upper and lower band to fit around the back of your head, our ear saver bands are not intended for use with RPN95 mask or any other mask that goes behind your head, the ear saver is intended only for use with masks that loop around ears to the side.
To clean you may use soap and cool water, alcohol, or disinfecting wipes/spray.
This product is made of a safe and flexible PLA plastic. However, it does not like heat. Please do not put bands in the dishwasher or leave the item in the car during the summer months, as it will melt at a temperature of 120°F or more.
The Design: The band was designed by Coblat_Prime and posted on Thingiverse, the design is free to use but per the terms you are not allowed to print someone else's design for profit. A huge thank you to him, without his design this project would not be possible. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4263455
The Printing:
We were donated two Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D printers that are able to produce 15 units each every 40 minutes. When the print is complete we hand remove the bands and then start another batch. On average we can produce about 720 bands per day.
We also had a 2012 Flashforge Creator 3d printer that produced 8 units every hour but it has been retired.
