Critically Endangered Species
The Great Hammerhead (Sphyrna mokarran) is the largest species of hammerhead shark, measuring up to 20 feet in length. These sharks are a part of the Sphyrnidae family and are found in tropical, warmer waters throughout the world. Although the ocean is massive and many parts are still left unexplored, there is only an estimated couple hundred left of this species due to commercial fishing. Enforcing stronger fishing regulations, laws, and monitoring is important when it comes to saving this species from extinction.
