Mating
This species only mates once every 2 years. Males typically will violently bite females until they accept to mate.
birth
The Great Hammerhead is viviparous. This means that they retain fertilized eggs within the body and give birth to live young. They can birth up to several dozen pups. Females usually give birth in the spring and summer months in warmer, coastal waters. This is where the juveniles tend to stay until they have reached larger sizes.
lifecycle
The Great Hammerhead has a faster growth rate than the other hammerhead species, reaching sexual maturity earlier, between 5 and 9 years old. As long as there are no threats towards the sharks, they can live up to 44 years old, and in some cases even longer!
