Montclair State University Venues (July 9 and 10)

Residence Hall and July 9 events

Participants staying on campus will be lodged in  Millicent Fenwick Hall, The Village, Montclair State University (use that address for ride sharing directions). This is directly across the street from the "Montclair State University" NJ Transit stop. 

Feliciano School of Business (July 10 events)

All events on July 10 will be held at the Feliciano School of Business. This is a 15-20 minute walk or a brief shuttle bus ride from Millicent Fenwick Residence Hall. The best train stop is "Montclair Heights," followed by a 10 to 15-minute walk. The best NJ Transit bus stop is "Red Hawk Deck" followed by a 5-minute walk.

The shuttle bus departs from Millicent Fenwick Hall to University Hall (closest to Feliciano School of Business) every 30 minutes or so.

Those staying overnight in Fenwick Residence Hall with cars should contact the conference organizers for parking specifics. 

Those traveling to campus for sessions on July 10 should plan to park in the "Red Hawk Deck," accessible from the Normal Avenue entrance to campus. One can map to "Red Hawk Deck, Montclair State University" from mapping applications.


Air Travel to Montclair State University

Newark Airport (EWR) is the most accessible airport to Montclair, NJ, though there are also public transit and ride sharing options (Uber/Lyft) from JFK and LaGuardia airports on the New York side of the Hudson River. Amtrak to Montclair State University

Montclair, NJ is accessible from either Newark Penn Station or Penn Station New York via taxi, rideshare, or public transit (NJ Transit).


Public Transit to Montclair State University from New York City or Newark

New Jersey Transit's "Trip Planner" and smartphone app are the most helpful for planning and executing travel  from New York City and within New Jersey (the app offers e-tickets) : https://www.njtransit.com/ Google Maps is generally accurate (and helpful for triangulating between the NY subway and NJ Transit). The NJ Transit app is helpful for determining where trains and busses are in real time. 


Please note that Montclair State University [campus map] is served by two train stations, "Montclair Heights" on the south end of main campus and "Montclair State University" directly across from The Village residential housing complex, but further from central campus academic buildings. A shuttle bus runs through campus if you get off at the wrong stop.


Train from New York Penn Station to Montclair State

New Jersey Transit’s Montclair-Boonton line stops at the Montclair Heights station which is steps away from our campus venues and the best stop for sessions in Feliciano School of Business. If you are traveling to Millicent Fenwick Residence Hall, you will get out at the "Montclair State University" stop. If you are traveling to the Feliciano School of Business on July 10 you should get off at "Montclair Heights" station. Trains take roughly 50 minutes from New York Penn Station to campus on the Montclair-Boonton line. A one-way ticket costs $7.75.


Bus from New York Port Authority to Montclair State

NJ Transit Bus #191 and #101 from Port Authority Bus Station directly serve the Montclair State University campus ("Red Hawk Deck"). You may wish to use NJ Transit’s Trip Planner tool


Please note that NJ Transit bus drivers do not make change! One may pay in small bills ($7) and/or small change. Easiest is to pay by credit card through the NJ Transit smartphone application, which has the added benefit of calculating "zones."

 

For a return to New York, buses leave from the same stop along the Red Hawk Parking Deck. Make sure you wave to stop the bus as it may not stop automatically. It is advisable to go to the stop at least 10 minutes earlier, just in case the bus leaves before the scheduled time.
