#30. Bubble turns into a Badass. - (BFDI 23)
Remember that time Bubble murdered someone?
Remember that time she completely changed character?
Remember that time Bubble went crazy on another contestant?
Remember that time she did the entire kill with one suave sassy motion?
"I do"
"Now you're talking my language!"
Of course you do! It's one of the most famous moments in all of BFDI. The time Bubble finally stood up and became the ultimate warrior of BFDI.
Bubble: The Bravest of Warriors
Now Bubble wasn't always this way. In fact, before this episode, she was kind of a wimp. Not one episode before, she dove headfirst into lava hoping for the best. In another episode she spends her days crying on a unicycle. The one who spends most of her time whining and complaining about anything and everything. In addition to that, she gets murdered about once every minute.
Now there is one more thing that you have to know, to understand the story. This is also another downfall story. Specifically Flower. Although her rise and fall was short, this is the definitive point she will lose the game. And she gets overthrown by the one person no one expected.
It isn't Leafy: the Undercover Bitch
It isn't Firey: the guy who's head is two miles wide
It's boo hoo Bubble!
So Bubble is the one who begins the downfall of Flower, and Flower wasn't just eliminated, she was humiliated and overthrown. Ever since she rejoined, she knew she was in hot water. Being the first eliminated and barely escaping her elimination. She was now playing against big dogs, and to add insult to injury, she skipped the entire game and had no idea what was going on.
After that damning elimination of Rocky, Flower knows that the only way she is going to survive now, is with immunity.
"I want to kill you all right now"
And Flower went straight to work, securing an immunity at the final 5. Its's a miracle she even made it this far. Everyone wants her gone, she's a scathe on this show, and incapable of being enjoyable.
Attacks Angels
So it's the final challenge. Flower has been doing everything in her power to secure a spot int he final 3. In fact, she might have a good chance of winning, because any of the finalists could cancel each other out in a vote-to-win. After all, she managed to rejoin, whose to say that she won't win?
She continues to barge through the final challenge with a feverish pace. Bullying her way through very sucessfully. Using such unique mental tactics including;
Death threats
More death threats
So it's evident that Flower has only one fear tactic, and she has also spent most of her time in the TLC. Completely unaware of the fact that some of her strategies won't work for much longer. The biggest difference is Bubble has a spine now.
Well... almost
Back in the first episode. Flower bossed everyone around on a level incomparable to even Golf Ball. She managed to get her work done with the power of intimidation.
"Snowball! Beat her up!"
And Chivalry.
"I'll do it, Flower!"
But now, since then, everyone is tired of her sphiel, and aren't going to fall for it. Except Bubble, Flower can still depend on her to do some work for her.
"Get me over that wall!"
"She is like a bossy-bot"
*dramatic pause*
Killed your grandma
But this strategy all comes to a halt at the very last moment. This is the moment where Flower will be humiliated because she oversteps her abilities. And it just happens to be the greatest lead up to the biggest overthrow in BFDI history.
First, Flower kills Firey...
... and herself
Then Leafy and Bubble have a fight
Which she makes worse
Then she kills Leafy
This is where she gets a one on one conversation with Bubble. This is the make or break of the season right here.
And as expected... she totally screws herself over.
"While our friendship, has just begun!"
"Now get me to the top of the volcano!"
This is where she makes her first mistake. After driving apart Bubble and Leafy, so Flower could look like a better last resort. This would be a perfect idea to use if Flower was dealing with the same Bubble she knew from episode 1. But things have changed. Bubble has gone through more friends than a kid on the first day of school.
Bye bye, Teardrop the Terrible
Bye bye, Match the Maligned
Bye bye, Pencil, the Pissed-off
Bye Bye, Ice Cube the Intolerable
And Bubble has dealt with (nearly) all of them without getting that sad. So the loss of Leafy isn't as shocking as Flower would have hoped. And just as Flower overplays her hand. Unlike other times, Bubble is MAD, and is going take out all of her aggression out on Flower.
This is not going to be fun for her. After bullying everyone around for the entire show, Flower is finally going to feel her comeuppance. And what makes this a absolute golden moment is that it will come at the hands of Bubble!
Bubble: Flower Picker
Things soon head south for Flower, her assurance that she was safe would soon be shaven from her. And without warning, Bubble would not only kill Flower. She would be getting her revenge and singlehandedly be the person who would definitively end Flower.
Flower: Three, two, one!
Flower: Wait, what are you doing?
Flower: Aaaah
And without so much as a wince, Bubble murders Flower in cold blood
She's even smiling as she walks out
Look at that shit eating grin
That was savage, I have to admit it. I am now scared of Bubble. I mean how could you not? She just murdered someone in cold blood like it was nobody's business.
Nine kills and the tenth is on us!

Other than the fact that Bubble is now scary. This is the moment that Flower loses, she has been on shaky ground ever since she rejoined. But this is the definitive moment that she loses everything. Now without immunity, there is no way for her to save herself. The rest of the episode is just buildup, we all know what is going to happen. But for the sake of pretense, Flower is given a "Fair shot" But soon enough, we just have to wait a few more minutes until the moment happens.
"You win"
"You lose"

"Did I seriously just lose because of Bubble?"
Ding dong, the wicked witch is dead!
Farts in elevators
And thus we get two classic moments:
Bubble becoming a straight-up badass and murdering Flower like it was nobody's business.
Flower getting overthrown, humiliated, and eliminated.
I don't really have much else to say except... That was awesome, and also you really should go to sleep with one eye open whenever Bubble is in the room.

P.S. I bet nobody knows the meanings of all the numbers in the loyalty card. If you do, that's amazing!
P.P.S. I'm not lying when I say that Flower had a fighting chance in the finales. She may be controversial, but that is the point. When only one side of the debate is heard. It can be pretty easy to assume that Flower was universally hated. But in our circumstance, we got to see Flower beat amazing fan favourites such as Pencil, Teardrop, and Needle. So the mere fact that she somehow beat them to get a second chance is pretty remarkable. And in the season 2 voting, she got lots too, proving my case.
What I am trying to say is that Flower wasn't universally hated, she was also loved by many, but they were unheard of due to the voting system targeting controversial characters. Perhaps if there was a system to balance out both, it could be the best possible solution.
But in the case of winning. She was a very unique character, and with Bubble, Firey, and Leafy basically all being the same, it wouldn't be that surprising to see them cancel each other out.
But lets be honest here, if Flower won BFDI, we would have a riot on our hands.

P.P.P.P.S. Also is anyone shocked by the fact that Bubble is doing a classic cartoony wind-up? This is the most amazing screencap in the entire show.
But to the credit of Michael and Cary, they nailed it. From the leg up, the toe point, arms up, and turned smile. Mwah! It's perfect!
