We've* been doing outreach to engage students at the high school level across New Zealand, in an event called "Metagenomics day" (yes, we probably need a catchier name!! ๐)
This is a full day, hands-on practical event where local area high school students (usually year 12), come to learn about using the microbes in soil to assess soil health. This event is run simultaneously in Auckland, Palmerston North, and Waikato.
*we means: Nikki Freed and Olin SilanderThe Course manual is here, if you are interested to see exactly what students are doing on the day.
