With Marco Zijlstra and Walter Hofmann
Many of us experience subtle, yet powerful patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion that shape how we feel and relate to the world. These reactive habits can carry:
• Feelings of anxiety and overwhelm
• A sense of longing and disconnection
• A general lack of vitality or meaningful focus
Often these habitual patterns have an underlying presence in the flow of our breath, the sensations in our body, the quality and content of our thoughts, moods, dreams, and perceptions. Over time they can seem fixed, as if they are unchanging aspects of who we are.
In this interactive 6 part course you will learn the Nine Breathings of Purification, an elegant and efficient meditation practice from the Tibetan Bön tradition. This simple yet profound breath practice helps transform reactive habits and allows new possibilities to emerge.
No prior meditation experience is necessary. This course is designed for anyone who is curious about using breath and awareness to access a more open state of being.
• Stabilize your attention
• Recognize reactivity without the judgement that often accompanies it
• Bring awareness to your breath
• Open energetic pathways to discover an inherent source of support and vitality
As we continue to practice the Nine Breathings of Purification, we experience a fresh presence and openness. Thoughts, sensations, and emotions flow through without capturing us. With a newfound clarity, we are able to navigate the complexities and challenges of our lives and the world with compassion.
Loosen limiting patterns and access greater clarity and compassion in this special online course.

Marco Zijlstra is a graduate of the second European 3 Doors Academy and a 3 Doors Presenter. He is currently in training to become a 3 Doors Teacher. He has been interested in consciousness, spirituality, and healing practices since a young age, and has practiced meditation for over 25 years. He has been studying with Tibetan Buddhist Masters since 2012. Tibetan Buddhist practices resonate strongly with him as they uniquely support him in deepening his heart connection and personal transformation.
Marco is currently studying to become a Cranio Sacral therapist and runs his own practice, The Flow of Life, where he offers individual Cranio Sacral and healing sessions, alongside group meditation classes. He greatly enjoys supporting others in bringing awareness to their own body and mind. He holds his practice in Delft, The Netherlands.
As a volunteer he has been organizing retreats for 3 Doors Teachers since 2018. Marco is currently a board member of The 3 Doors and chair of The 3 Doors Europe.
Walter Hofmann is a graduate of the first European 3 Doors Academy and a 3 Doors Teacher. His first training was as a music educator. Following an inner voice, he trained as a certified acupuncturist and has been working for 25 years in the field of acupuncture and hypnotherapy.
Walter’s interest in meditation and spirituality led him to Zen and Shingon Buddhism, and eventually, in November 2007, to his root lama Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and The 3 Doors. He organized several retreats in Switzerland with senior teachers Marcy Vaughn, Raven Lee and John Jackson. He offers beginner and advanced meditation courses in Zurich and online via Zoom.
In addition to his daily practice, Walter enjoys reading about meditation, Buddhism, and psychology and loves to play and listen to music.
Walter likes to spend his free time in nature, often together with his wife Rita, who is also a practitioner and 3 Doors Presenter. He feels that practicing together, with a partner or in a group, is one of the most fulfilling ways of being together.
