ERRATA: 6/9/2020: I have added some additional blanks to remove ambiguity.
Captain’s Log, Stardate 4163.2. I believe that the answers we’ve found so far may be related to people or creatures that we’ve met in the past. It may be of great importance to reflect on some past data entries and see what they have in common with our newest findings.
Captain’s Log, Stardate 2391.7. Today, we were able to help the princess of a troubled world, a moon in the Alpha Centauri system. A mining colony threatened to destroy the territory of her indigenous, blue-skinned species in order to obtain some very rare element, apparently almost unobtainable. The miners were able to successfully destroy a tree that was the native people’s gathering place, but we were able to fight back and drive them from the moon. Her name shall not soon be forgotten.

Captain’s Log, Stardate 2521.3. We are very glad to be safely on board the Enterprise after a close encounter with one of the most powerful foes we have ever faced. We were incredibly lucky that the strange man with brightly colored clothes flew by at just the right time. He performed many incredible feats that no doubt saved our lives. We invited him to join the Federation, but he claimed that even though he lost his original world, he’s already found a new one to call home, and that his duties lie there. He said that the symbol on his chest represented his people's hope, although I would have guessed it stood for something else...

Captain’s Log, Stardate 2688.5. A pair of unusual creatures have made our acquaintance today. One is the talker, who was very sarcastic but a brilliant engineer. He and Scotty made a great pair and were able to make repairs to the ship’s engines so we could escape. The other helped us fend off the attackers until the repairs were finished. He was just the opposite, and barely spoke at all, and when he did, it was just the same three words over and over again. We are certainly familiar with his name, but Mr. Spock is more interested in discovering what the name of his species was.

Captain’s Log, Stardate 2901.4. To borrow a phrase from my colleague, Mr. Spock, it was “fascinating” to interact with a figure who is not carbon-based. This red and blue figure was an incredible blend of biological evolution and technological engineering. When fighting against his enemy faction of his home world, he showed remarkable "transformations" when fighting and even provided his own transportation.

Captain’s Log, Stardate 3339.8. Our foe today was not one to be underestimated. It was a frightening, humanoid figure, entirely black in color with an elongated head. Mr. Spock informs me that this skull shape may be to facilitate a larger brain, while Dr. McCoy claims it exists merely to “look as disgusting as possible.” We lost a security team member, Ripley, to the monster, whose wound makes me grab my own chest instinctively. I hope to never run into it again, although its species should be catalogued for future preparation.

Captain’s Log, Stardate 3649.5. Today, we made unlikely allies with a smuggler and his partner, who was, despite first appearances, remarkably intelligent. I couldn’t quite understand his language, even with our universal translators, but luckily, his partner seemed to understand. It mainly sounded like indistinguishable growls to us. He and Mr. Sulu seemed to bond over a common love of the helm.
