Angeli Nancy: Nancy Angeli was born in Evia in 1982. She studied translation and journalism. Since 2008, she has been living in Spain. Her short stories and translations have been published in various print and online magazines. She has written three collections of short stories.
Boletsi Maria: Maria Boletsi is a Professor of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Amsterdam, where she holds the Marilena Laskaridis Chair, and an Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her work spans comparative literature, literary theory and cultural analysis, modern Greek literature, and the history of concepts. She has authored Barbarism and Its Discontents (Stanford University Press, 2013), Barbarian: Explorations of a Western Concept in Theory, Literature, and Art, vol. 1 and 2 (with M. Winkler and others, Metzler 2018 & 2023), and Specters of Cavafy (University of Michigan Press, 2024). Her current research focuses on the concept and fictional genre of the “weird” and its contemporary “transpositions” from literature to ecology, geography, public culture, and politics.
Calle-Archila Carlos: PhD Candidate in Linguistics, Literature, and Theatre Studies at the University of Alcalá. Graduate in Film and holder of a Master's in Hispanic Studies with honors from the University of Montreal (Canada), and a Master's in Hispanic Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Alcalá de Henares (Spain). Author of the books Cine-autopsia: una exploración al cine en Colombia and Retratos de Colombia desde su cine. Miradas a la violencia, la herencia y el mito. He has received awards and mentions in literature and essays, including from the United Nations (UN-FAO), the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, the French Embassy in Colombia, and the Colombian Consulate in Montreal. Currently pursuing a PhD in Linguistic, Literary, and Theatre Studies at the University of Alcalá de Henares.
Chatzivassileiou Vangelis: Vangelis Chatzivassileiou was born in 1959 in Athens. He studied political science and regional economics. His first critical essays were published in the newspaper Avgi. He later collaborated with the newspapers Proti and Kathimerini, as well as with various literary magazines. From 1991 to 2010, he worked as a literary critic for the newspaper Eleftherotypia, and from 1998 to 2009, he was a member of the editorial team of its "Bibliothiki" supplement. Since 2005, in collaboration with Katerina Schina and Manolis Pimplis, he co-produced the weekly show "Books on the Box" on the ET1 channel. In 1992, he published the monograph Miltos Sachtouris: Bypassing Surrealism (Estia Bookshop), in 1995, the anthology Contemporary Greek Prose Writers 1974-1990 (with Elisavet Kotzia, Patakis), in 1999, the essay collection Landmarks: Orientation Points in the Landscape of Modern Greek Literature (Kastaniotis), and in 2008 and 2009, the first (1900-1920) and second (1920-1940) volumes of a five-part anthology (with Kostas G. Papageorgiou) Anthology of Greek Poetry (20th Century) (Kotinos), which was completed in 2013. He has taught literary criticism at the EKEBI Book Workshop and has been a member of the editorial team of the English-language magazine Ithaca, published by EKEBI. Since 2011, he has been working as a literary critic for the newspaper To Vima of Sunday.
Filanis Thanos: Thanos Filanis completed his postgraduate studies in Media at Leiden University. His dissertation, titled "Adventures in Collective Freedom: Collaborative Storytelling in Tabletop Roleplaying Games and the Search for Grassroots Meaning-Making in Modern Media," combines his research interests in transmedia storytelling, horizontal social structures, and the Fantastic. He is also a writer focused on the genres of the Fantastic, and his work has been published in both Greek and English publications and anthologies.
García Marín Álvaro: Álvaro García Marín is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Málaga. He has researched and taught at CSIC, Columbia University (USA), and the University of Seville. He specializes in Modern Greek Studies, particularly the fantastic element in culture, as well as the significance of a “gothic” component in the shaping of the Greek nation since the 18th century, both in Europe and Greece itself.
Giannoudis Thanos: PhD Candidate in Modern Greek Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Co-founder of the online anthology "Canonical Poetry." Poet and prose writer, with two personal books published and several volumes featuring his participation. Upcoming works include: Μοντέρνα τέχνη (poetry collection), Georgios Vizyenos: Tired of Foreign Lands (literary compilation of his poetic works).
López Fernández Álvaro: Álvaro López Fernández earned his PhD in Spanish Literature from Complutense University of Madrid (2019) and is currently a postdoctoral professor and researcher at the University of Valencia. His main research focuses on the grotesque and the fantastic in contemporary Spanish culture, especially in relation to memory, and the study of contemporary Spanish poetry. He is part of the editorial board of Brumal, a journal dedicated to research on the fantastic, and is associated with research groups "GEF: Group for Studies on the Fantastic" (UAB) and "CREGEL: Critique, Editing, and Literary Genres" (VIU).
Markopoulos Yannis: Yannis Markopoulos is a postdoctoral researcher in General and Comparative Literature at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he completed his PhD on the fantastic in Modern Greek short story. His postdoctoral research focuses on the relationship between the concept of the fantastic and the aesthetic form of the film screenplay.
Martín Rodríguez Mariano: Dr. Mariano Martín Rodríguez is a translator and independent scholar living in Brussels (Belgium). He earned his PhD in Philology from Complutense University (Madrid) in 1994. Since then, he has published numerous studies in various languages on modern drama, scientific romance, and fantastic, utopian, speculative, and science fiction, both in Spain and across Europe. He has also produced critical editions of translations from Romance languages and English into Spanish, as well as critical editions of Spanish works in these genres. He is currently co-editor of the online speculative fiction journal Hélice.
Molina Raúl: Raúl Molina Gil holds a PhD in literature from the University of Valencia and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alcalá. His main research areas include contemporary Spanish poetry, fantastic literature, and the study of literary representations of rurality. He is associated with the research groups "GEF: Group for Studies on the Fantastic" (UAB), "GILCO: Group for Contemporary Literature Studies" (UAH), and "CREGEL: Critique, Editing, and Literary Genres" (VIU).
Naoum Ioanna: Ioanna Naoum was born in Thessaloniki. She studied in the Department of Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (undergraduate and postgraduate studies, specializing in Modern Greek Philology). Her dissertation is titled Bitter Smile (1860-1930): The Poetics of Humour and Aspects of its Romantic Genealogy (Thessaloniki, 2007). Since 2009, she has been a lecturer in General and Comparative Literature in the Department of Philology at Aristotle University. From 2001 to 2003, she worked as a tutor at the Hellenic Open University in the module on the History of European Literature (EPO21), and since 2003 she has been teaching Modern European Literature (17th-20th centuries) and Literary Theory and Text Analysis in the Distance Learning Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "European Literature and Culture" (coordinated by the Department of English Language and Literature, Aristotle University). She has also participated in research projects at the Center for the Greek Language on European literature and its teaching, as well as in the research project “Literary and Art Magazines 1890-1940” (Scientific Coordinator: Ch. L. Karaoglou, Department of Philology, Aristotle University). In the 2010-2011 academic year, she was a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Alexandros Papadiamantis, and a member (Secretary) of the Organizing Committee of the 13th Scientific Meeting of the Department of Modern Greek Studies in memory of Panagiotis Moullas. Her publications and research interests focus primarily on the formation of reading networks between European and Greek Romantic lyricism, the poetics of humour and the aesthetics of allegory, as well as on fixed poetic forms. She has also translated essays on aesthetics, literary history, and theory.
Nikolaidou Dimitra: Dimitra Nikolaidou holds a PhD in English Philology from AUTH and researches the relationship between fantastic literature and role-playing games. Her research has been included in scholarly volumes and manuals. She is also co-founder of Tales of the Wyrd and an author of fantastic fiction translated into seven languages.
Papageorgiou Vivian: She holds a PhD and teaches Direction & Film History at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens’ Department of Communication and Media. She has a Master’s in Cinema & Audiovisual Media (Nouvelle Sorbonne Paris III). She studied English Philology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Direction (Stavrakos Film School), and Interior Design (Dimitrelis School of Arts). In 2016, she was selected for the Sarajevo Film Festival Talents. In 2018, her screenplay Apolesthenta won the Greek Film Academy Award in the Short Film Fund competition. She has directed several short films, and her first feature-length documentary is currently in development, having participated in screenplay labs at international festivals.
Paraschas Sotiris: Sotiris Paraschas is an Assistant Professor of French and Comparative Literature in the Department of French Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has taught at the universities of Warwick, Reading, and King’s College, London. He has published two monographs: The Realist Author and Sympathetic Imagination (Legenda, 2013) and Reappearing Characters in Nineteenth-Century French Literature: Authorship, Originality, and Intellectual Property (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018).
Rassidakis Alexandra: Professor of German and Comparative Literature at the Department of German Language and Philology. She studied Medieval and Modern German Philology and Spanish Philology at the University of Düsseldorf. Her PhD (1999) focused on Gnosticism in 20th-century literature. Her teaching and publications span the fields of German and comparative literature, the history of ideas, and literary translation. Stathatos Panos: Panos Stathatos is a graduate with a Master's in Modern Greek Philology from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a translator, and an independent researcher. His dissertation focused on the ghost-genre of Greek science fiction, emphasizing the issues of utopia and allegory. His articles, translations, and book reviews have been published in journals, and he has participated in domestic and international academic conferences. He has translated The Political Unconscious by Fredric Jameson, soon to be published by Kedros Press.
