Yaelokre
Cavetown
Lydia The Bard
I want to be an indie folk artist one day, so I've been listening to Yaelokre for the past month or so to get ideas regarding music style and storytelling techniques. This album cover is of their newest song, "Kid & Leveret", and it explores the backstories of two of their original characters, named Cole and Clémente.
Cavetown's music makes me feel emotions I didn't know that I could. I tend to bottle up my feelings a lot when I'm around certain people because I'm usually uncomfortable, so when I'm alone, I can let everything out while listening to Cavetown.
Her newest song, "Feed Us Your Girls," reminded me why it's important for people to speak up about their experiences, even if it makes people uncomfortable. It's important because it teaches people that not everything is what it seems, and to be mindful when discussing certain topics like SA and harassment.
"Generation Rage" (or "Gen Rage" for short) is an album I have a few ideas for, but I have struggled with the outline. I know I want to talk about mental health, society's pressures, social constructs, and the rift between Gen X/Y and Gen Z, among other things. But, I don't have a concrete list of ideas for the album yet.
"What Ties Us Together" is an EP I'm in the process of making. It's about identity, my journey with grieving a girl I once knew, the core emotions that occur within the stages of grief, and having to come to terms with the fact that some of the people I grew up with aren't who I thought they were. I'm also taking a little inspiration from Avatar: The Last Airbender and incorporating core elements from that franchise through music. (Water, Fire, Earth, and Air).
