The Extra Mile SG is a podcast inspired by our family's journey with Down syndrome.
When we first received our daughter's diagnosis during pregnancy, we found ourselves desperately searching –- for stories on lived experience, for reassurances, for the voices of those before us. We couldn’t find many based in Singapore, the place we call home. But those we found, and the families we could hear from and walk with – those have been powerful sources of encouragement for us as we walk this road with our daughter.
The Extra Mile SG is born out of the hope that more of these conversations can be shared—a space to explore the joys, challenges, questions, and everyday moments of life with Down syndrome, through the voices of those who live and work alongside the community.
Whether you're already part of the Down syndrome community or are simply here to learn, I'm so glad you've found your way here. I hope you'll leave with a deeper understanding, a new perspective, or simply a reminder that no one has to walk this journey alone.
One of the hopes for this podcast is to hear from the many people whose lives are touched by Down syndrome. We want to hear from not only parents and caregivers, but also siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, educators, therapists, doctors, self-advocates, employers, and friends.
If you have a story, perspective, or experience you'd be willing to share, or know someone who does, I'd love to hear from you!
