Often, ELLs have less access to technology and consequently, fewer opportunities to develop important technology skills that they will need as they enter the college and career world. Due to budgetary constraints and lack of training, ESOL teachers also are less likely to have access to devices and fewer chances to implement technology into instruction.
According to the PEW research center, 92% of teachers feel that use of the internet has a “major impact” on their ability to access content, resources and materials. Many also reported that the internet increases their ability to interact with students and support learning outside the school day. According to a PBS LearningMedia survey, 69% of teachers polled agreed that educational technology allows them to “do much more than ever before” with students.
