Kate Moetaua, ASB, LTCL, Grad Dip Teaching, established the Kate Moetaua School of Drama in 2004 and taught at Wakatipu High School as the Drama Teacher for 6 years until 2018 where she was much loved and respected by colleagues and students alike. Kate's passion, determination and love of the performing arts have inspired us to establish The Kate Moetaua Collective.
Kate had a life long passion for Drama and Communication. She was awarded teaching diplomas with both Trinity Guildhall and Speech NZ, and successfully prepared many students for their Speech New Zealand or Trinity Guildhall examinations spanning 20 years of teaching.
Kate studied firstly with Wendy Glover and Pam Logan of Blenheim and later with Sister Leonie O'Neill of Christchurch, who is widely recognised for her knowledge and expertise in Speech and Drama. A keen performer, Kate won the NZ Performing Arts National Young Performer of the Year for Speech and Drama in 1993 and also reached the finals of the Theatre Federation One Act Play Festival as a schoolgirl. As a teacher at Wakatipu High School, Kate directed One Act Play performances for 6 consecutive years, reaching the national finals 5 times and winning the Festival with Bang Bang in 2016.
Kate discovered a passion for directing and loved nothing more than taking a group of aspiring actors, a play and inspiring them to find ways to explore and perform it.
