What is a Caecerta Dragon?

The caecerta is the genus of dragon you are most likely thinking of when you imagine a dragon. Large, reptilian creature with broad wings on its back, and thick scaly hide.

The following dragons fall under this genus:
Rêveblue, Blitz-Strike, Modebrun, Silent-Night, Strashrak, Attakage, Midohadri, and the Raktavisha

Physical Characteristics

Caecerta dragons are the most reptile-esque of the dragons. Their bodies are covered in scales and scutes, occasionally with feathers but typically only as accents, not covering the full body.

These dragons are usually quadrupedal, standing on all four limbs with a set of wings on their back. Some species, like the Raktavisha are bipedal, able to stand, walk and even run on just their hind legs.

Sexual Reproduction

Caecerta dragons are oviparous, meaning they lay eggs. A healthy female will lay an average clutch size of around 3-4 eggs which take about four months to hatch. The eggs are thick and leathery with a pale-gray appearance. The eggs are around eight inches in length and weigh about five pounds.

Dragon mating is seasonally tied to the spring. Once the seasons shift and begin to warm, Females will develop mature ova, and soon become fertile. However there is no behavioral changes in females or males during this time.

Unique Traits

Caecerta dragons tend to be more temperature sensitive compared to Mollcerta dragons, preferring warmer climates. Those who do live in colder climates tend to have insulating feathers or even a layer of blubber under their skin.

Rêveblue

Diet: Omnivorous, Fish, meat, can have a sweet tooth for fruit
Habitat: Temperate forests, thrive in mild to cold climates
Power: Bioelectricity, can emit electricity from their mouth, though it will only be released when biting. Can also generate electricity down their body (think like an electric eel). Alternatively they can shoot an electrical ball of plasma from their mouth as a ranged attack.

Modebrun

Native Home: The Kingdom of Scotland
Lineage: Caecerta
Lifespan: 200 years
Diet: Omnivorous, preference towards fish
Habitat: Highlands and mountains, struggles in hotter climates.
Power: Fastest runner and flier of most Caecerta dragons, powerful swimmer. Its can produce piercing high-frequency calls that humans are unable to hear, but greatly agitate and disorientate other dragons.

Silent-Night

Native Home: Islandia (Iceland)
Lineage: Caecerta
Lifespan: 300 years
Diet: Omnivorous, preference towards fish and fruit
Habitat: Volcanic areas, loves geothermal locations which keep them warm all year long, hate the cold
Power: A fire breath of ionized Oxyacetylene flames, Bioelectricity, can fling ball lightning towards a hostile with their tails, or can electrocute an attacker if grabbed

Raktavisha

Native Home: Himalayan mountains (have begun to invade Moscovia)
Lineage: Caecerta
Lifespan: 300 years
Diet: Omnivorous, preference towards meat
Habitat: Arctic tundra and alpine forests
Power: Produces an orange, low temperature fire that can be sustained for long amounts of time, but is more intended as a threat display rather than an attack. It's main form of attack is producing a sarin-like gas that can kill prey within minutes.
