Mangaldan National High School (MNHS) underwent COVID-19 lockdown during the escalation of the said virus, resulting to the new practice of education “Modular and Online Classes,” for 3 years, the phenomenon compelled students to be more dependent on modern technologies, specifically mobile phones.
The senior high school student of MNHS endured 3 years of self-learning in their junior high school years forfeiting them professional assistance, students built their knowledge through what they could comprehend and they could find online, the system of the modular learning were not implemented or facilitated in a way students would genuinely learn novel knowledge, with the lessons that were already found strenuous during the face to face classes, left students who were constrain to Modular and online learning, students face double the difficulties of grasping the lesson.
According to Mrs. Ritchelle Estibal Teacher II of MNHS senior high school, who has been teaching for over 5 years “Mas mataas at maganda ang performance ng students ng senior high before COVID-19, yung comprehension nila mas malawak,” it has been said that comparing the face to face academic performance results of students who underwent the lockdown and students who did not, students who weren’t coerced to the phenomenon has a higher level of practical performance.
“Students became more dependent on their mobile phones, yung sa modules noon search lang ginagawa nila, hindi na talaga inaral,” stated by Ma’am Estibal.
Modern technologies can be a lot of help in our everyday lives, especially in academics, students should manage their use of phones, and be more independent towards the use of the internet.
“Technologies has a lot of advantage and disadvantages, students or us as an individual should know when we are being immoderate towards something, nasa atin nay an yung moralidad or management ng pag-gamit,” she added.
