About Us
We are the Gryce Family, and The County Cupboard is our small, hobby business in the heart of Prince Edward County.
Located on the very farm that has been in Donna’s family since 1956, our daughter is now the fourth generation growing up on the farm. Our 1860's farmhouse — and the land around it — continues to be cared for with deep respect for its history.
Donna is a former teacher and now a stay-at-home mom, entrepreneur, and homeschool educator. All proceeds from The County Cupboard directly support our family’s homeschool program, allowing learning and work to happen side by side.
Whether you’re a long-time local or visiting Prince Edward County for the first time, The County Cupboard is proud to welcome you and share a small part of our family’s story with you.
The County Cupboard began in 2013, when Donna sold her first batch of strawberry jam on a local buy-sell group. Ever the entrepreneur, she started out small, using old family recipes and a love of preserving what the land provides.
Over the years, we've been proud to offer a wider selection of preserves. In 2021, we added our own free-range brown eggs and raw honey to the inventory and set up a table at the end of the driveway. When the garage in our front yard became available in 2023, we converted it to a shop for our products, as well as space to sell secondhand cothing, books, housewares, toys, and collectibles.
All proceeds we've earned since 2019 have gone directly to supporting our homeschool program.
