2025- It was a rare site to see today on Main Street in Maxwell, Iowa... a school bus!!! What used to be the month of May full of school tours has slowly dwindled over the years to just one, Collins-Maxwell Community School District 5th grade. We are so thrilled that Mrs. Deanna Plunkett Davis continues to bring her school group to visit our museum and educates her class on the rich history that lives inside these walls. Thank you to a well-behaved, insightful group!
2023- We enjoyed the Collins-Maxwell Elementary students, from Deanna (Plunkett) Davis's 5th grade class, coming to The Community Historical Society Maxwell for their annual field trip to learn about Iowa history. Both students and parents/chaperones are always very curious of all the items within thThis tour was led by Pat Smith and Sharon Adams. The trip included a scavenger hunt put together by their teacher and gets the kids to really look at the artifacts featured in the building. This is always an event that our Museum looks forward to every year, and Deanna's class is always very respectful and curious about the Iowa artifacts. Here are a few photos from this years group.
