The Colin Lukas Memorial Fund

The Colin Lukas Memorial Scholarship for 2021 is available to those senior students who are enrolled in the Milton, Clinton or Edgerton school systems and are entering the trades, be it Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, Manufacturing, HVAC or Automotive Trades. To work long hours, you need a good set of boots. Colin loved his boots and swore by his Red Wings. The stories his friends have told of his kindness and generosity made us realize that he was a silent hero to many.

In keeping the memory of Colin's acts of generosity and kindness alive, we would like to help people on that journey just as we helped him. This scholarship is based more on personal morals and work ethic than on academics. We would like to offer a total of 10 scholarships in the form of Red Wing boots to be awarded in May of 2021. I have received commitments that three pairs of boots are dedicated to young women entering the trades, with one pair being dedicated to a female welder or electrician.

There will be 10 pairs of Red Wing boots awarded for the year 2021 to the students whom show qualities such as; kindness, a sense of humor, generosity, a desire to help others, and an eye to the future.

There is a short questionnaire to fill out and we would like two letters of recommendation, one from a peer and one from a mentor figure. There will be a short personal interview to determine the ten finalists.

Closing date for scholarship is April; 15th, 2021
