Lagniappe refers to a small gift or extra something given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase, or more generally, something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure. It's a word with French origins, used most commonly in Louisiana, and is often associated with the spirit of generosity and extra care.
