Castlebridge Show - Sunday, 27th July, 2025
CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME
On behalf of Castlebridge Show Committee and myself, I would like to extend a huge Cead Mile Failte to one and all, in this, our 83rd Show year and my first year as Show Chairman. This year's Show will be held at Castlebridge Community Centre on Sunday, 27th July, 2025 (a fortnight earlier than usual due to Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann being held in Wexford Town from 3rd to 10th August). The success of our Show is due in no small way to your tremendous and unfailing support, shown to us down through the years and of which we are very appreciative.
The Show is a celebration of community and friendship and it embraces all things traditional. The main exhibition hall is a tribute to everyone who continues to sow and reap their vegetables, fruit and flowers. The home-baking section provides a fine platform for a delicious array of breads, cakes, jams, etc. The art and crafts section, the photography section and the flower arranging section, reach out to the talented and creative in our community and beyond. The more traditional agricultural produce, such as oats and barley, are also on display. Castlebridge N.S. pupils provide us with a marvellous display of art, crafts and handwriting of a very high standard - many thanks to organiser Regina, school pupils, Principal and teachers for all their hard work and support. Another section with wonderful talent is the Junior Section Open Classes section comprising children's entries of flowers, vegetables, baking, art, crafts, etc. Our Scarecrow competition - so popular with exhibitors and the public alike - is back again this year and we expect another excellent display on Show Day.
Show Day in Castlebridge in a family day out, with all the usual attractions, children's entertainment, bottle stall, tea tent, various stalls, fancy dress, etc. and not forgetting our pets corner (sponsored by Blackwater Open Farm) and dog show (sponsored by Dec's Pets) which are special highlights of our Show.
With all of this in mind, I am confident that this year's Show will be as enjoyable as in previous years, and so, without further ado, I would like to thank the committee, our judges, our sponsors, our exhibitors, and last, but not least, our army of dedicated volunteers who come along each year and without whom the Show would not go on.
