Zero Hunger and Our Community

How can we use our resources to provide improved nutrition and food security to local families in need?

UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

This project was conducted as part of an 11th/12th grade Botany class but could easily be implemented by any grade level. Students were introduced to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and asked if there was one in particular they would like to use the class resources to address. They decided that because the curriculum already was addressing the Zero Hunger goal, that we should continue with that one but with a different route that would also promote education and independence.  Students had the idea of starting seedlings and creating a set of growing instructions that would be given to families served by the food bank.  And so the Food Bank Seedling Project was started.
