Average Brü's is our take on a group recipe collaboration between all members of TBC. Since we are a club with members all over the world, this will be a great opportunity to get everyone involved in creating an outline for a recipe that members can brew, share and discuss in the Facebook group as well as at our meeting. Participating in a brief survey will give us a defined outline of a recipe based on a chosen BJCP style for that quarter.
Once the survey is closed, a post will be pinned in the group outlining certain aspects of the brew that received the most votes. Members can then take the ingredients that received the most votes and create a recipe for their system using those ingredients. We encourage using all ingredients that were selected in some capacity so you may use new ingredients that you’ve never had an opportunity to try before!
What will also be chosen by the group survey is a guideline for the beer, such as ABV, OG, FG and IBU. Base grain, specialty grains, hops (and their addition times) will also be selected to give us a guideline of what to follow for our recipe creation. These will be ranges and still allow for each of our recipes to be similar, yet unique in some way. It’ll also give each member a bit of creativity within the recipe outline defined by the group.
The survey will be active for one month. Once it is closed, we will post the data within a week so members can buy their ingredients, brew/ferment the beer and post pictures along with your recipe in the Facebook group! We are also looking at ways to highlight this activity in our meetings, details are forthcoming.
