Henry Jones Junior, "Indiana Jones", favoured a high-crowned, wide-brimmed brown sable luxury beaver fur felt fedora made with the men's left sided dark brown ribbon bow as standard, through many of his on-screen adventures.
It should be noted that he also wore a grey fedora on more formal occasions.
The brown sable fedora originally belonged to a treasure hunter named Garth, who discovered the Cross of Coronado with his gang in 1912 in Utah, USA.
Young Henry Jones, while on a Boy Scout trip, stole the cross and eluded Garth and his gang and then returned home. The Sheriff arrived to reclaim the cross for Garth's employer.
Garth, seeing spirit in the young man, put his fedora on Jones' head, and told him, "You lost today, kid, but that doesn't mean you have to like it."
Jones kept the fedora, and wore it as he travelled the world.
Indy's fedora was based on a style known as "The Poet" which had been in continuous production since the 1890s.
Herbert Johnson was the company who supplied the fedoras for the trilogy of movies. They can still be purchased today, from their shop, Swaine Adeney, located in London, England.
