Research Overview
Efficient transport and interconversion of energy between electron, spin, and nuclear degrees of freedom provide the foundation of life on Earth. We are interested in developing and using novel spectroscopic techniques to understand the complex interplay between electron and spin transport coupled with nuclear motion in materials. We employ optical, Raman, and X-ray-based techniques for mode and atomic-specific visualization of these fundamental processes with spin-state specificity and femtosecond time resolution. Understanding the underlying physics of these provides needed insight to drive the advancement of current and future generations of energy harvesting, information storage and processing, and quantum technologies.
