For Character Design course; pick a classic fairy tale and reimagine the characters.
For mine, I chose Saint George and the Dragon. I imagined it set in a kingdom of small, semi-blind mice, ruled over by a greedy, outcast Iguana. The "dragon" was forced underground years ago by a lone "knight"-- a fierce, wild rat from the surface, who failed to kill the beast, only maiming it and taking its eyes and fangs as trophy. The knight now finally tracks the dragon to its lair, right before the "princess" is about to be made his latest snack-- or tribute, rather.
In 2022 I was commissioned to produce concepts and tile deliverables for a side-scroller videogame project.
I was given a list of rooms & interactables that had to be produced, as well as visual direction, but I was responsible for designing & creating all visuals for the game.
What was supposed to be an uneventful day as an apprentice knight turns into a sudden adventure when Kit discovers two long-lost secrets:
First, that the fabled magical creatures known as Familiars still exist; massive reservoirs of magic given sentience long ago.
Second, that Kit is the first DragonKin in over a century; someone who can walk the line between man, beast, and myth.
Together with a band of friends, Kit must escape the clutches of those who would seek to hoard their power, learning about friendship, survival, and the dangerous truths behind magic and dragons.
