Recommended Materials

Students are responsible for having proper materials in class EVERY DAY. Students who fail to bring materials to class will received a lowered participation grade for each day they are unprepared. Students will need the following in every band class/rehearsal:

• Instrument  and required accessories (reeds, cork grease, valve oil, slide oil, etc.)

• Music/Book

• Master Theory Book 1 (Blue)

• Music Folder (Provided)

• Pencil

Required books:

• 6th grade: Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician, Book 1 (Green) Master Theory Book 1(Blue Book)

• Beginner Band:  Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician, Book 1 (Green) Master Theory Book 1 (Blue)

• 7th grade: Essential Elements 2000, Book 2 (Red) & Habits of a Successful Middle School Musician Master Theory Book 1

• 8th grade: Habits of a Successful Middle School Musician

• All: Black 1in 3-ring binder with paper. (Binder supplied)

Other Suggested Materials:

· Cleaning kit for their particular instrument

· Wire music stand for home practice

· Metronome and tuner app (Tonal Harmony)  or purchase one from a music supply store

· Reed case and mouthpiece patch

· Orthodontic Wax (for students with braces or other orthodontic work)

The following list of supplies are suggested for your instrument. These supplies can be purchased from music supply stores or from Amazon.

Flute:   Cork Grease, Flute Swab  

Clarinet: Vandoren Clarinet Reeds (blue box), Cork Grease 

Bass Clarinet: Vandoren Bass Clarinet Reeds (blue box), Cork Grease, Neck strap

Alto Sax: Vandoren Alto Sax Reeds (blue box), Cork Grease, Neck strap
