This course is self-paced, which means you can move through the lessons at a speed that works best for you. However, all coursework must be completed by the final week of May 2027. You have until the last week of May to complete all optional assignments for timely grading.
Each week, you can move through the modules, assignments, and quizzes in Moodle. I will post a weekly suggested post including what module you should work on. These weekly posts will serve as a recommended pacing guide to help you stay on track and steadily build your skills. While you may move ahead if you would like, following the weekly structure will help you practice consistently and get the most out of the course.
ASL is a visual and expressive language, so be prepared to watch, practice, and participate often. The more you engage with the material and practice your signing, the more confident you will become.
The total cost for the full course is $600.
This tuition includes all class materials, practice resources, year-long access to instructional videos, assignments, grading, and ongoing communication and support throughout the course.
*Please note, this is a self paced course. There are no live lesson meetings with the instructor, however, communication is always open. You can always send me an email or message through Moodle.
Students will move through the course at their own pace. While the course is flexible, there will be occasional due dates to help ensure assignments can be graded and feedback can be provided in a timely manner.
Parent involvement is very important in an online course setting. Parents should regularly check student progress and assignment completion. If a student is not participating, completing assignments, or engaging with the course materials, it is not the instructor’s responsibility to reach out regarding missing work. Communication and feedback will naturally reflect the level of participation from the student.
I am here to facilitate the course, answer questions, provide instruction, and give feedback on submitted assignments. However, I can only assess progress and provide meaningful support when students actively participate and turn in their work.
Assignments, quizzes, and projects are optional for families who are simply using the course for enrichment or independent learning. Students are welcome to watch the instructional videos and practice at home without submitting work.
However, grades will still be entered into the gradebook as though the student is completing the course for credit. This means that any assignments not submitted will receive a grade of zero. Families seeking a final grade or transcript documentation should plan for students to complete and submit coursework consistently throughout the year.
