Ohio D Segment 7: Shawnee

Trail Notes

CAUTION: Because the Shawnee Section of the Buckeye Trail is presently without a Section Supervisor or much supporting maintenance staff, the section is poorly blazed. Besides the blazing issues, many parts of the trail that are off road are blocked by dead fall.

DETOUR: Active Logging - BT Point 18 - BT Point 19

Active logging may be underway within Shawnee State Forest between Point 18, Park Service Rd at Shawnee Backpack Trail (ADT D70170), and Point 19, Shawnee Backpack Trail at Lampblack Run Rd (F16) (ADT D70180). Consequently, ODNR Division of Forestry has recommended that hikers detour along Lampblack Rd, much of which is gated. ODNR Map of the Detour

• D70170 - Change: Continue west on State Forest Service Rd 16 for 2.62 mi.

• D70180 - Change: Turn R onto footpath that meets SF 61 Lampblack Run in 3.2 mi.
