The Archive is organized around the following pages:
#1: Copies Signed By The Author: Is the book autographed?
#2: Anthologies: Does the work feature multiple authors?
#3: First Edition: What edition is the book?
#4: UMB Student Publications: Did this get made by students who went to UMass at some point in the past or present?
#5: Rare & Odd: Books that are low print, handmade, have an unusual origin, are difficult to research etc.
As the collection expands, organization begins to blur. There remains a distinct potential that a 6th page, titled 'miscellaneous' is introduced. Potentially even a 7th for magazines.
Each book is assigned one primary category for organizational consistency. Book-specific categories will be mentioned in the listing as follows:
#1: Publication Date: When was the book published?
#2: Date of Acquisition : When was the book added to the archives?
#3: Manner of Acquisition: How did it wind up in the archives?
#4: An ISBN, if applicable: How can it be found in other databases, catalogs, or retailers?
#5: A photo of the front cover only: What does it look like?
#6: A condensed author's bio, taken from the text itself: Who wrote it?
#7: Press information: Who was it published by?
#8: Language: What language is it written in? (if not English, or else bilingual)
#9: Awards: Were any won?
