Q: What is The "Work Smarter, Not Harder" Project?

A: The "Work Smarter, Not Harder" Project is an organization that aims to educate and empower everyone, specifically students and marginalized groups about their working rights and labor laws, to create a more fair and just workplace for all. 

Q: What inspired you to start this project?

A: This project was inspired by the working rights violations we had experienced firsthand in the workplace, as well as the gross violations we had seen our friends, peers, and community members experience. As well as the overall lack of knowledge of these topics and lack of accessible and understandable resources.

Q: Who is the project for?

A: This project is for everyone!!! Everyone needs to be knowledgeable of their working rights and labor laws to have a successful,happy, and healthy career. And chances are you have already been affected by not having a full knowledge or understanding of these laws.

Q: What topics does the project cover in its presentations?

A: We curate our presentations for each partnership to make sure they are most applicable and accessible to that audience. However, in all presentations we will go over labor laws/working rights of that state, nationally, union rights, contracts, most violated working laws, and what the process looks like for addressing a violation.

Q: How can I attend a presentation or event?

A: You can attend a presentation or event in an area near you, watch a presentation on our YouTube channel, or attend one of our live online presentations. You can also request a presentation under the Partner With/Have Us Present section of the website, or if you want to contact us about an online presentation, you can visit here.

Q: Do you offer any resources online?

A: Yes! They will be available under the Resources/Learning section of the website.

Q: How can I get involved in the project?

A: If you want to get involved with working with the project directly visit our Volunteer/Join page, if you want to help fund our project we would love you to visit our Donations  page, if you would like us to present/partner with us visit this page, and if you would like to give presentations in your area and get started click here or contact us directly.

Q: Do I need any special skills or qualifications to join the project?

A: No! We appreciate whatever skills or qualifications you can contribute to the project! We have a place in our project for you! All we ask is that you believe in our mission and want to help us acheive our goals.

Q: Can I use your presentation materials in my own community?

A: Yes! We will upload our presentations to the Resources/Learning section. Additionally, to see the template that you can adjust to your community, you can visit our Give Presentations page, which would mainly only require the rights for your state/city to be added.

Q: How can I support the project if I can't volunteer?

A: The best way to support the project if you can't volunteer is through donations, which we can use to pay for the costs of giving the presentations, recruiting members, advertising, and maintaining and getting more partnerships. Please visit here to donate. 

Additionally we always support any way you could help us with obtaining more partnerships or helping with advertising/awareness of our project and work. Please Contact Us  if you would be able to help through these methods or use the contact information at the bottom of the page.

Q: Who can request a presentation from the project?

A: Anyone! If you think your school, nonprofit, union, or other group/organization would benefit from our work, we would love to present!

Q: Are presentations tailored for different audiences (e.g., teens, immigrants, LGBTQ+ groups)?

A: Yes! We offer tailored presentations to best fit the audience and address the biggest laws and rights that affect them as well as addressing specific violations or environments they may be subjected to. 

Q: Are presentations available online or in different languages?

A: Yes! We offer online presentations through our YouTube channel and uploaded resources, and there will be opportunities for live online presentations in the future.

We currently will have versions in English and Spanish, but are working to make versions for more languages.

Q: How can I expand the project to my community or college/school campus?

A: You can expand this to your community/school through contacting us and filling out our give presentations form and well will work with you directly to help you get started and be informed.
