Welcome to The Woods Forest School. We will be your child's daily guide. We will guide your child to discover new things, make connections, problem solve and take safe risks.
Hello! I am Jessica. The Owner and creator of The Woods Forest School. I began my career as a Preschool teacher in 2009 and fell in love with the kids. I decided to pursue a career in education and received a Bachelor's in Education from the University of Louisville. I began teaching in public education in 2014 where I received a Master's degree from WKU and taught for 5 consecutive years before staying home with my children. After COVID-19, I returned to public school and taught for one year, while I gathered together my plans for The Woods. I received my Forest School Teacher and Forest School Director certifications in the Spring of 2022.
I’m Nicole Magera, a stay-at-home mom to two girls, singer and a nature teacher of 6 years, formerly leading Tinkergarten classes and working for Red Oaks Forest School. I was raised in Minnesota and moved to Kentucky about 7 years ago, but we’re brand new to the Louisville area. I’m so excited to get to know everyone and explore together in the woods!
My name is Alyssa Thomas. I’m a stay at home mom to two wonderful boys: Camden & Grayson. I will begin homeschooling them in the near future, along with The Woods. My husband and I love to backpack at Red River Gorge. I enjoy running, playing games, puzzles, and anything outdoors. I have my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Campbellsville University. God gave me such a passion to work with children and I cannot wait to meet everyone soon!
Hi I’m Jamie Bello! I recently moved to Kentucky from Florida with my husband Greg and we are loving being in the Louisville area! I have been working outside farming and landscaping/gardening for 5 years now and I have a love for working with kids! I wanted to bring those two passions together somehow and that’s when I found The Woods Forest School. I have been working with children within the church for a few years now and ithas developed a great love and passion in me to help nurture young minds by fostering a positive environment for them in hopes to help facilitate their overall development and their walk with the Lord. I am so excited to be apart of The Woods Forest School and believe the learning interactively outdoors can teach us so much about God’s creation!
Hello I am Ms. Alisia and I am looking forward to working with your children at The Woods Forest School. I am a mother of 6 and grandmother of 10. I am retired from 30 years of banking and 32 years of youth pastoring with my husband. I also have 2 years experience as a teacher's aide in the Oldham County Schools. Currently, I am also a Direct Support Professional with Heartfelt Solutions and work with friends with disabilities. I am the oldest of 8, with Ms. Jessica being my baby sister. I have lived on the Kerby Compound most of my life, and still do. So I am very familiar with the forest and the area. I am CPR and first-aid certified as well. I look forward to meeting each of you in the coming weeks.
