Reverend Theresa A. Bell
Theresa Ann Carter Bell is native of Winchester, VA. Theresa is the mother of two children, Jeffrey, Jr. (Kathleen) and Jenea Hamilton (Michael). She is the beloved “Nana” of 4 grandchildren; two granddaughters, Genesis and Chira, born on the same date, two years apart; 2 grandsons she calls the bookends, Solomon the oldest and Carter the youngest, and a multitude of their friends that call her “Nana”!!
She accepted her call to preach and teach the Word of God in 1996 and received her first license to preach in 1997 from Bishop Dr. Alfred Owens, Jr., Mt. Calvary Holy Churches of America, Inc. in Washington, DC, while a member of Ebenezer Mt. Calvary Holy Church in Summit Point, WV. She continued her education and graduated from Calvary Bible Institute in Washington, DC in August 1999 and received her Evangelist license in May 2001 and was the first woman ordained at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in 2006. Rev. Bell served in many capacities in the 14 ½ years at Ebenezer Mt. Calvary; from kitchen duty to Calvary Bible Institute Coordinator & Instructor - teaching, preaching and performing administrative tasks.
Rev. Bell served as Associate Pastor at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA with Rev. Dr. Gilbert M. Mack, Jr., Sr. Pastor for 15 years until April 2021. She provided spiritual guidance for Christian education, Praise Team, Sunday School and Women’s ministry. And was the first women ordained there in 2005.
God has given Rev. Bell a vision for a ministry to reach those that may not be ready for the traditional church atmosphere, but have a desire to accept Christ as Savior, develop a personal relationship with God and study His Word. Rev. Bell believes that this ministry will provide churches with Christians educated in the Word, on fire for God and ready workers for the Kingdom
Rev. Bell was installed as the Executive Director of Sisters In Ministry Inc., VA Chapter in May 2018. Recently launched her website “The Ministry of Wise Counsel and opened the Well House Ministry Center, in Stephens City, VA in October of 2022.
Rev. Bell worked for 16 years at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center and has the reputation as “the one that will help” among the staff, community resources, probation and the incarcerated; experienced in Substance Abuse Counseling and Recovery, Anger Management and Boundary Empowerment and retired in 2016. She was asked to return for a few months in 2019 to develop a new position in the Programs Staff and she is currently working that part-time position.
Most of all, she loves the Lord and her most sincere desire is to spend the rest of her life following the lead of the Holy Spirit, fulfilling her life purpose. The scripture that speaks volumes in her life is James 1:22 “Be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only. . . deceiving your own selves..."
