Awiyao and Lumnay's love tale has a strong ethnic undercurrent. The ability to have children is a crucial component of building a family and improving the connection between the husband and wife. In the traditional Filipino society, if a guy does not have children, a man would doubt his manhood. The narrative is extremely regional and patriotic with absolutely no trace of western culture. If I were of a different race, I would undoubtedly read the narrative with much more awe and curiosity.
It is highly cultural from the way Awiyao opened the door and lighted their fireplace up to the end where Lumnay escaped into the woods. The narrative uses a straightforward bead necklace as a representation of their pledge. The withering petal's hearts stand in for Lumnay's crushed heart. It implies that even if her heart has been shattered today, life will carry on and a new day will dawn. BULOY -LIAM PALOMO

"Wedding Dance," written by Amador Daguio, is the story of a married couple who have no children. Lumnay is a good light in the home, but she is not blessed with the chance to bare a child. This is why her loving husband Awiyao is looking for a woman who will give him the child he wants. This tradition is normal in their country and time, but the two protagonists in this story love each other very much, which in turn makes the story stronger and more beautiful.

The "wedding dance" demonstrates the culture of indigenous Filipino where they focus is to spread and enlarge their legacy which becomes the main reason the conflict happened. The wedding dance is a story of loving couples who failed to have their child because of pregnancy issues. They are married for years and love each other deeply but then Awiyao feels that there is still something missing and decided to marry another woman, madulimay to fill his wants. The story shows that their culture is giving freedom to have multiple wives just to continue the legacy. On the other hand it also shows that Awiyao's love for Lumnay is not pure, he only pitied her just because they have memories and the woman looks so desperate to take him back. A real person who truly loves someone would probably sacrifice everything they have and only Lumnay did that she sacrifices her peace, self-dignity, and even her mental health just to take her man back but in the end, she leaves with nothing, just the feeling of betrayal.
The story was really good. The impact is so hard slapping everyone to take a coffee and see what their partner is. This was a heart-melting and blood-ragging, story because of the twist and the flow of the story where it shows that even Lumnay gets really broken feeling worthless, awiyao even said that he would be back in Lumnays arm when he failed to have a son with Madulimay that shows lumnay was just his back up plan. Madulimay is just a teenager but doesn't want anything maybe she's forced she doesn't deserve everything. ms. melancholy -PRESCILA MEDRANO
"The Wedding Dance" by Amador Daguio is all about a husband and wife, Awiyao and Lumnay, who had been married for seven years. Despite being in love with his wife, Awiyao feels the need to marry again to have a son. At his second marriage celebration, Awiyao goes to check on Lumnay, knowing she is upset. Awiyao married another woman named, Madulimay. Having a child to follow after the husband's name was a must.
The beads in this story symbolize a promise that Awiyao made to Lumnay. The facts that Awiyao gives to Lumnay show that he cherishes her, and still believes she has worth. Culturally, dancing is a celebration of happiness.
I believe that in love, it is not wrong to fight for what you feel. But, yet, of course, you need to consider, and respect the traditions. But still if you love the person fight for them until you succeed in what you are fighting for. Butterfly -DANICA NAZARENO
In my own perspective the story is a very tragic one. I know for myself that they both do their jobs as husband and wife. They both sacrifice what they needed to sacrifice. But from what I see/ read Lumnay suffered a lot. She did her best for them to have a child. She even faces the consequence of stealing her husband's pig on the farm just to give it to their (god) Kabunyan in exchange for having a child.
While Awiyao just thinks about his pride. Not that I'm pointing out that Awiyao is such an irresponsible husband it's just that why did he prioritize his pride over his wife's feelings it's just that, it's so cruel.
I admire how faithful Lumnay is and how loyal Awiyao is but then, the world is not fair. Aiyar even mentioned that they were meant to be but they are just not meant to have a child together. And the fact that Awiyao even forces Lumnay to dance in the crowd and find another man for them to be fair since awiyao finds another woman to be with. The woman who he thought can give him a child and can regain his so-called pride. And it hit me hard when they both express their feelings through actions I just realized something "Actions speak louder than words".
The fact that they love each other for them to just forget it that fast. The story reminds me that true love does exist but then circumstances always break it anyway. Falling in love is a choice but then in their situation, they have that so-called tradition of having a child is a must and part of the man's ego. I can't blame them both because they are just a victim of LOVE IN THE MIDST OF NOTHINGNESS. aemory545

Igorot husband and wife named Awiyao and Lumnay are married for almost seven years. However, as a partner, one of their biggest dreams is to have a child. Years passed by, and their relationship lose spark because of not having a son. They did their everything of best wishing to kabunyan, their God. Prayers and sacrifices of chickens, again, and again. Unluckily, Kabunyan didn't respond to their prayers. Awiyao can't accept that they can't have a child, get mad and without any hesitation, he decided to leave Lumnay and marry another woman to have a child. We, as a woman, know that feeling of being hurt. It's not easy for us to accept that kind of reason! that was not enough to excuse me. Awiyao should learn to wait for the right time! I know God will always provide.
