The hunger problem in District 833 impacts every school, and when students are hungry, they can't concentrate or learn. Girl Scout Troop 55128 created the S.N.A.C.K. Program in 2018 to help our local schools provide healthy snacks to students who need it.
We have partnered with SoWashCo CARES (Community Action Reaching Every Student) to create and run the S.N.A.C.K. Program. Our troop started this program when the girls were in 8th grade; now, they are graduating college but the program still continues! What started as a Girl Scout Silver Award has evolved into a district-wide program to help hungry students.
COMING SOON: We will be resuming collections in most schools (those who have agreed to be a collection site). If you are interested in donating, feel free to contact us at snack833@hotmail.com.
Is your child in need of snacks to help them concentrate during their school day?
Many students have more problems concentrating without some extra supplement between breakfast and lunch, or lunch and dinner. If you cannot provide a snack for your child, please contact your school's social worker or counselor for assistance.
We separate boxes of snacks into paper bags, so the students can pick their snack themselves.
