I believe in God's saving grace through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. The following verse pretty much sums it up for me:
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." - Gal 2:20
I also believe that "All Scripture is breathed out by God" (2 Tim 3:16-17) and that the Bible contains no irreconcilable contradictions within itself, with history, or with science. However, I recognize that some copying errors have crept in over the millennia and that not all translations are created equal. (I'm currently using the English Standard Version, but other versions have served me well over the years, especially the King James Version.) Also, I think all Bible verses need to be understood in their context because not every verse is a proclamation of God's truth. One example of this is found in the Book of Job, where you cannot trust what Job's three friends say because God rebukes them in the end, saying, "for you have not spoken of me what is right" (Job 42:7). So, even though you can read quotes from those three friends in the Bible, what they said may not be correct. You always need to know the context to provide the correct interpretation.
At other times, the personality and personal preferences of the writers come through in their writings and must also be considered in context. The Apostle Paul does this but usually clarifies in the fuller context when he states, for example, "I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment" (1 Cor 7:25). His opinion has value, but it's not a command from God. So, again, I always try to consider the context.
