Fairies have overall very ethereal appearances, having slightly pointed ears with different toned markings across them (depending on the variant of fairy, they match the color of their wings). Their wings, hair, and eyes tend to give off soft glows, mostly seen with fairies with white, gold, or silver-toned wings.
The hair and eye color of each fairy derives from their variant, for example, Mieyayah fairies have red hair, and blazing red eyes whereas Ikhaothsani fairies have blue hair with silver eyes, and so on.
A decent amount of the fairy population have access to mana and are capable of using magic, a very high proportion in comparison to other sentient races. Usually, their culture plays a huge role in what magic they specialize in as it is part of their culture.
Fairies, on average, are between three to four feet tall. Their small size makes them more dexterous, allowing them to fit in small spaces to avoid enemies, and they require far less food to survive than other species. However, it also means that they severely lack the physical strength that other species are capable of, making them vulnerable at close range. That being said, their above-average mana-born population makes up for their lack of physical abilities.
Fairies have beautiful insectoid wings that closely resemble those of dragonflies and butterflies. These wings often range between two to three and a half feet in width and, despite all known laws of aviation, these wings should not be able to lift the fairies off the ground. Despite this fact, fairies seemingly defy the laws of physics and fly anyway. These mysterious properties of their wings, with their lightweight and small size, allow fairies to incredible speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour making them the fastest airborne race.
Mieyayah fairies inhabit the Mieyayah mountain range, famed for its many volcanoes. They are most noticeable due to their blazing red hair, and glowing red eyes. Mieyayah fairies have a reputation for short tempers, and a tendency to be incredibly reckless. They either have glowing golden wings or a dark-toned black wing. They are believed to bring chaos and misfortune-like a black cat-everywhere by the superstitious locals of the Mieyayah Kingdom, resulting in their population becoming alienated from the surrounding countries. The mana-born population of this variant usually becomes Pyromancers due to their culture’s adoration of fire.
Ikaothsani fairies are easily noticed due to their blue-toned hair, and pale colored eyes. Also noticed to be owned by the ruling class of Ikaothsa as pets, courtiers and royal advisors. They have developed a reputation for being calm and courteous, yet cowardly amongst the locals of the Ikaothsa kingdom despite this fact. Their wings are either a glowing white or a pale colored blue. These fairies were persecuted and forced out of Balhaya; the Balhayans saw them as being ‘in with’ the Ikaothsani and naturally despised these fairies. The mana-born population of this variant usually becomes hydromancers due to their culture’s close relation to lake Ikaothsani.
Caedian fairies originate from Caedia; they have black hair and glowing golden-toned eyes. They are stereotypically known for being laid-back, and satisfied in life but diligent. They naturally have a love for creating sculptures and buildings. They have gold or black-toned wings. The mana-born population of this variant usually becomes Geomancers due to their close relation to Caedia, of whom venerate geomancers.
Balhaya fairies are considered to be the exact opposite of the other subspecies; they have white hair, Pale eyes, and silver-toned eyes. Their wings match their pale appearances, being a glowing white. Or a bright blue. As a species, they’re incredibly loyal and make bonds easily. They’re nomadic, but never truly travel alone. The mana-born population of this variant usually becomes Aeromancers due to their need for speed in the open plains of Balhaya.
These fairies inhabit the Eternal Forest of Ibernus, earning them the name ‘Eternal Fairies.’ They have pink or green-toned wings, with all different types of unnatural-colored hair with bright-colored eyes. They are rumored to be mysterious but sweet people, with a high care for those in pain. To their beliefs, they’re the “most cultured” out of the others. Not much is known of these fairies due to their elusive nature and dangerous habitat however it is believed that many of them become Sanamancers.
