We strive to build the world’s best medieval fantasy community and one of the greatest fantasy worlds ever created through interactivity, transparency, hard work, and discipline. We believe that we are laying the groundwork for a fantasy universe that will be talked about for centuries to come.
Our mission is to eventually create a fantasy world so great, that people will say "The Selyrian Chronicles" as part of their "Greatest Works of Fantasy" list, along the likes of Lord of The Rings, and A Song of Ice and Fire.
We envision a future where The Selyrian Chronicles grows beyond a great community into a fully realized creative universe. It will have published novels, animated series, films, and our most ambitious goal: a large open-world role-playing game set in a true 1:1 scale of Selyria on a single shared server. And even after our founders are gone, we hope the game world will continue to expand, exploring lands far beyond Selyria.
Our worldbuilding approach is built on the grounded foundation of verisimilitude. We want to tell stories that reflect the real world, to force people to be a little bit uncomfortable, and to really think about how actions made by people, affect other people.
We want to create a world that feels alive and lived-in. We want to make our roleplayers feel like they're actually visiting a real nation, kingdom, city, or even a building. Through our constant effort in improving our world, we will continue to make the world of TSC as alive and grounded as possible.
Our Leadership Style, in the way we handle our staff focuses on honesty, passion, and meritocracy. We prioritize honesty first, ensuring that disagreements are met with actual care for the issues we face, and agreements come from admitting each of our faults. We prioritize passion, as we want our staff members to truly care about the community, and to have the passion to make the best community out there. Finally, we prioritize meritocracy, as discipline, hard work, and true dedication to their craft is needed to ensure our community survives and thrives in the centuries to come.
Our Engagement Style, in the way we handle our community, is through transparency and cooperation. We want to build a community where a newcomer immediately feels welcomed by several members, not because they are told to, but because the members understand that a new generation of members have come to continue our group's legacy. We want to show as much as we can to the community so it gives us a balancing check, but also for the members to understand the hard decisions that we - the leaders, make all the time. And there will be a lot of hard decisions.
We expect many situations where the leaders like Kindred and Kai will feel embarrassed to show things about themselves, but we believe that this is the way to truly make the community have a sense of responsibility for every action.
This will not be an anarchy, nor a rule of the mob. Major decisions will always come down to the leaders. However, the goal of transparency is to ensure that whatever decisions the leaders will make, will be understood by the members of the community.
As the world accepts more A.I tools to grow, and keep surviving, TSC aims to adapt to this new climate while also keeping the creativity and human ingenuity that this community was built upon.
We believe that Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool that can both be helpful and destructive, like a sharp knife that can cut our ropes free, or cause harm to others. We believe that AI must never replace human creativity, and instead, help human productivity. It should serve as a means to streamline repetitive work and simplify complex processes.
An example to our approach to AI, is how we approach AI Art. We use AI-generated art only as placeholders for our artists. This helps them visualize rough poses or layouts before creating the final piece themselves. When adjustments are needed, AI can also be used to quickly visualize those changes, allowing our artists to work with greater clarity and efficiency. Our long-term goal is to replace all AI art on our website with fully human-made art, created by the talented artists we commission and compensate fairly.
Beyond art, we use AI to assist with tedious or technical tasks in writing, so that we can focus on the more creative side of things. Tracking historical timelines, grammatical errors, and tracking consistencies can be assisted with AI, while Kindred focuses on writing the stories and connecting the world.
In our game projects such as our Roblox Roleplaying game, we plan to use AI so that our scripters can work faster, helping them lift up heavy workload, and adjusting parts of the code to prevent bugs and glitches.
When we develop an animation team, we will let our animators use AI to assist them with drawing 'boring' scenes, such as dialogue and repetitive movements like walking, running, etc., so that they can focus on the more creative and exciting parts, such as fight scenes, and expressive high stakes scenes. We believe that by doing this, we avoid burning out our animators, ensure that episodes or seasons release quicker, ensure that the quality of animation is fluid for each frame, and ensure that our animation team is stable, and does not fluctuate via layoffs and mass hiring.
We want this project to survive in this new digital age where AI Writers and mass produced "AI slop" are flooding the market, or when AI is used by companies to layoff their employees. However, while AI is becoming an inevitable part of the digital world, we stand firm in using it only as a tool, not a replacement. We stand firm in our opposition for AI to replace our staff, and instead, take advantage of its uses so we can focus on the more creative aspects of this project.
