Mages in TSC have their own specialized roles within the broader world.
Should you want to dive deeper and learn what mages in TSC tend to be, here are some examples. These occupations are specifically for mages. These jobs do not mean you cannot be a baker. These are simply jobs that only mages can do in the world of TSC.
A slightly controversial job, where you use hydromancy to manipulate water-based ink to create paintings faster, leading to more copies and in theory, more money to be made. This has made many traditional artists understandably angry, but many institutions secretly hire these mages to cut costs within their establishments. Most Inkwells are hired in news stations in Karthus as graphic artists, or advertising artists in The West Arkasios Trading Company.
Ship bastions are hydromancers assigned on ships to calm the surrounding waters in order for the ship to have a smoother sailing. Ship bastions are very popular in the WATC and in Porthos where waters tend to be violent from time to time. They also protect the ship from sea monsters by making the ship move faster in case of an emergency.
A storm wall is simply a mage that prioritizes in controlling storms, preventing coastal villages from getting hit by tsunamis, mostly in-tandem with a wind bastion if severe storms are inbound. This requires extremely high affinity. Because of this, most storm walls start as ship bastions, calming the waters around the ships they board in case of a storm. As they grow older, and gain more experience, they may sign up as a local storm wall of a village, gaining enough experience to sign up as a city's storm wall.
Cleansers are more common in Ibernus, where water is boiled, turning into vapor, and cleansers catch them to transfer to aqueducts in order to prevent diseases and ensure that water is drinkable. This is much more common in capital cities, and most of these mages are highly sought after.
A temperature regulator, or simply a regulator, is a cryomancer that works to cool down a building, commonly found in royal palaces in Northern Ibernus. They are highly funded, and live lavish lifestyles. By cooling the surrounding waters, and partnering with Aeromancers, they turn establishments into a cooler environment. Sometimes, they even work with cleansers to cool down the aqueducts of the city during summer, especially during a festival.
Windwalkers are fierce warriors common in Shiniya. They are rare, but often work as mercenaries in the present day. Windwalkers are also sometimes employed in the royal family of Kononagari.
Venators are aeromancers that ensure the logistics and records of mages of a certain nation or city. They oversee and surveil mages to ensure that no one uses forbidden spells, or mages who do not have proper paperworks. Venators usually wear gray robes.
Reapers are aeromancers that follow Ekaj. They often serve the Dark Lord and deliver him fresh bodies, or kill anyone needed of killing, especially those who have been resurrected, or anyone who has lengthened their lives for far too long.
Storm Bastions protect villages or cities from violent winds from storms or tornadoes. They, along with Storm Walls, create a bubble in order to protect their assigned posts.
One of the most common mage professions, using magic to heal most ailments. While Sanamancy is still a little bit of a taboo practice, an exception seems to be made when it only applies to healing.
A dermatologist in the world of TSC is far different than the real world. A dermatologist here is a sanamancer that takes out "impurities" on people's faces and ensures that their face has the proper nutrients in order to make them more appealing. They are also highly sought after, and oftentimes, are hired by rich or noble families.
An Arcombine is a sanamancer that is in charge of Hreinngar's vertical farms. They accelerate the growth of crops in order to produce much more food than a normal farm would. While the practice of Arcombining tends to be more common in Hreinngar, some nations such as North Ravena, do this practice.
Magicarvers, commonly reffered to as an "Addlers" in Drasek, are Sanamancers that primarily focus on woodworking. Magicarvers in the Arcane North oftentimes create tools or other trinkets made out of wood, while Addlers generally grow trees from seeds in order to create housing for Draseki inhabitants.
Druids are generally leaders of indigenous peoples living around the arcane north, and the Duskalian forests. They either hold complete authority, such as with the Duskalian natives, or hold representative power on certain matters, such as with Karthus, Drasek, and some parts of Northwestern Ravena.
Bringers of Joi, or simply called 'Bringers' in Vontur, are sanamancers who are commonly found under the Bridge of Pleasure who, when they touch their client, bring a massive surge of endorphins to the person's head, causing them to have a surge of happiness and pleasure. This is considered illegal, and has a massive negative impact on people, as it is incredibly addicting. However, Bringers make a lot of money from this, making it hard for some to deny the opportunity.
A lifter is a mage that deals with construction. Lifters take large materials and transport them to higher elevations. This is common in Hreinngar, which made it possible to create its giant walls.
Lifters start by raising platforms that people use daily, supervised by a sage.
Commonly practiced by the dwarves of Ulfenheim, Hreinngar, and Ravena, Gemsmiths are geomancers who turn rock and stone into gems by pressurizing the rocks with heat. They then turn these gems into currency by inserting metal logos inside of it, turning it into an official currency of the Gem System.
Partnering with the gemsmiths are arcane miners, who are lower level geomancers that let miners do the mining, while they clear out most of the dirt and rock that envelop it.
Tremmers are low level geomancers that push Hreinngar's Royal Tram system, which carries more than 100 000 people everyday.
A very sacred role in the Pyramid of Tariq in Caedia. They are in charge of maintaining the gold cap of the pyramid from falling, by making it float through eternity. Watchers serve 2 years of their lives minimum, but some stay their entire lives. People who serve their for longer go down to be one of the most respected individuals in the Tariqist world.
Embersmiths are Pyromancers who use their power for blacksmithing. This gives them less time to worry about burning themselves, and worrying about having a proper area to burn their tools, as they can specifically target which parts need burning.
The most popular mage profession out there. Most mages become pyromancers, and most pyromancers join the military. This is due to the many opportunities this brings. By serving in the military, they often gain land, money, fame, status, and so much more just by serving in the military. They are also fairly safe, as they mostly never serve in front line combat, only being deployed at the back where they can throw their spells from afar.
Most common for Pyromancers. They are responsible for throwing small-medium fireballs at the enemy to suppress or destroy them or their infrastructures.
When a pyromancer becomes an Electromancer, they are often deployed in critical areas that have many people. They often turn the tide in battle easily, as their lightning bolts deal heavy damage.
Using their staff as a surfboard in the air, they are known for their wild culture. Often deployed on a dragon's back, they chase down enemy air cavalry to create air superiority.
Using low levels of lightning magic, they can accelerate the growth of mushrooms in a given area, which, makes harvesting mushrooms much faster. This is a very niche occupation, but in this world, it is more common among retired electromancer veterans who wish to live a simpler life.
In the Reedianite faith, sun priests are highly valuable pyromancers that teach the holy ways of The High Priestess. They live off of donations, and they are highly respected.
While this is still a fairly new area, several steel bridges and royal gates have been done much faster due to these mages.
Nothing is known about them, and their magic is as mysterious as them. There are only a handful of them in the world, living underground. They are said to create portals, where only the richest and most powerful individuals are able to traverse.
Mages who only wish to research and study about magic itself and ways to make magic much better to use and less taxing to the body. They are not necessarily known for their combat prowess, but their knowledge on how to properly use magic.
