Mage Academies are schools where mages can study, train, and evaluate their skills to be certified mages, or to have a proper certificate to enter certain establishments. Mages who have not graduated from any mage academy are usually known as ‘Rogue Mages’, and are actively persecuted or exiled by different governments (Although this depends on what kingdom. Libertarian places such as The Outback, and Sicarius do not usually ask for such permits).
If you wish to make your OC a mage, they must graduate from at least one of these schools. Keep in mind that your OC doesn’t need to study 5 years here. Sometimes, immigrant mages take a 1 year course here on magical safety and control.
Mage Academies also influence the way you as a character will cast magic, as each school has their own levels of skills and practices that pertain to their school.
