F/A 18 Super Hornet
The Boeing F/A 18 Super Hornet is a series of American supersonic twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter, sometimes serve as a fighter/bomber aircraft derived from the McDonell Douglas F/A18 Hornet.
The F/A 18 Super Hornet took its first flight on 29th November 1995(28 years ago). Following the first official test flight by the Air Force head control, it was commissioned into service in the early year of 2001. Strategically, the Super Hornet was majorly deployed for the Navy carrier fleet due to its capability to fit with the offshore operation. In addition, its legendary reputation through the combat record still remains until nowadays and it's the face of the Navy.
All of these pictures are officially published by the Navy base and ground base US Air Force fleet.
The F/A 18 Super Hornet is mainly powered by the Twin afterburn engines which enable the aircraft to reach the top speed of Mach 1.6(which equal to 1,190mph,1,915km/h) at the altitude of 40,000 ft (12, 190m).
In addition, its operation range is up to 2,346km with the twin extra fuel tanks beneath both wings.
Regarding the rate of climb, the Super Hornet can reach up to 44,882 ft per minute.
The F/A 18 Super Hornet was designed for multirole missions, so its weapon capacity is one of the advanced and heavy-loaded weaponry systems.
It's equipped with a 20mm rotary cannon M61A2 Vulcan at the rear side of the cockpit which has the firing rate of 412 rounds per minute. This modification provides the Hornet the advantage in the close-range combat or Dogfight where the missiles cannot be locked onto the very close and moving targets.
Besides the Hornet also has the Hardpoint which allows the aircraft to carry the max payload of 17,750lb (8,050kg), with these provisions the Hornet can be loaded by various types of Missiles ranging from: air-to-air, air-to-surface, anti-ship missiles, guided missiles, and bombs etc.
The Hornet can also be served in the bombing missions or operations which require the high payload capacity of bombs.
For the avionics, the F/A18 Super Hornet also be equipped with the most advanced radar systems which enable the aircraft to lock multiple targets simultaneously from the very long distance and its aerodynamics also make the aircraft be able to deflect the enemy radar detection which avoid the aircraft from being locked by the anti-air missiles systems and surface to air missiles (SAM).
In conclusion, the F/A 18 Super Hornet is one of the best 4th generation fighter aircraft which still remains in the service until the present day. Its famous reputation in previous combat operations make the aircraft to be one of the finest flying machines to ever be operated by the US Air Force for both carrier base and ground base branch.
Don't poke the Hornet's nest because you have nowhere to run, the sky belonged to us, the Hornet……
