CyberBullying is an electronic post that is mean towards another person or maybe student. This is usually done anonymously so the messenger does not get caught. Some might say if you are being bullied online to just turn off your phone or laptop but it is not as easy as you think. Words hurt people differently and can even be as efficient as bullying as we know it.
Since technology has been advancing at a fast rate, this has only been able to give more fuel to those who bully online. They are being more creative than ever before. One of the worst things that could happen to a student is to be bullied at school then go home and also be bullied online which makes it really hard on those students because it feels like they will never get out of this cycle. This cycle creates a serious mental toll on a child. This is because before there was online bullying the victim could just go home at the end of the day and be safe at home, they would just have to worry about the next day. Since there is a lot of technical advances these victims will never escape because once at home they will go online and possibly be seeing hateful messages or posts about them which no one should go through at their own house.
Children who sadly have to experience this can go through some very deep emotional pain. Like having fear, anxiety, depression, and low self esteem. Students should not be going through this like feeling alone and feeling that you will never get out of it is a serious problem that we need to stop.Another thing that could get deeply impacted are these students grades and willing to learn. This is so hard for those students to have to go through bullying at home and on top of that they have to finish their homework.Being bullied is an easy way for the students to stop doing work at school because they have so much they are going through. The worst thing about this is that these students start getting thoughts on suicide because they feel like it is the only way to get out of all this pain they are going through on a daily basis.
One way that we can help prevent this is by the way parents discipline their children using the internet. Parents have the options to add filters or blocks on websites to ensure their children will not be able to get any ideas to bully someone. Also giving their children a certain amount of time a day will help this problem because they will not be able to do anything bad during that time since they will be monitored and do not have a lot of time. This is not going to stop this 100% but we need to figure out ways to help students not think about committing suicide. This should not even come close to someone's mind especially at a young age.
I really like being able to add a short film to an essay to enhance the empathy we feel. I thought this essay was going to be an easier one but there is a lot of choices that we have to make as a group to be able to show what we want. Also being able to use the databases as a reference is very helpful to make our essays stronger by adding facts to prove our point.
